Nina Garcia Quarterly
Cost: $100/quarter
Ships To: United States.
I have been stalking tracking my first ever Nina Garcia Quarterly Co. box like a mad woman and I was thrilled when I saw that it was out for delivery today. And even more thrilled when it appeared on my porch!
If you aren’t familiar, Quarterly is a new way to connect with the people you follow and find interesting. Quarterly Co. offers subscription boxes (which are shipped on a quarterly basis) from well known curators which are filled with things they love. I opted for the Nina Garcia Quarterly Co. box as my first box from Quarterly. She’s the creative director at Marie Claire and I have really liked the picks from her previous boxes. Her box is $100/quarter and the next shipment is in September 2014. Prices vary for other curators, but generally range from $50 – $100/quarter.
The Nina Garcia Quarterly Co. box ships via USPS. I received tracking information on July 2nd and it arrived just 5 days later. I had heard that the last set of boxes (from #NGQ02) took much longer to arrive once they shipped so I am super happy with the time frame.
I totally knew what was coming in the box, but I didn’t know what variations I was going to receive. The first look though told me nothing! I didn’t realize that everything came individually wrapped and I enlisted B to help me dig into everything so that the process would go more quickly.
The Nina Garcia Quarterly Co. box doesn’t include just a little information card. Rather, it’s a six page letter from Nina about why she selected the items she did, a little background on the items, etc. Here are her summer picks for the #NGQ03 box:
~SPƎNGLISH “Muito Cool” Baseball Hat (~$30): Hmm. I never wear baseball hats (they do not look cool on me like they do on some people) and the design of this so isn’t me. I will pass this on to a friend who is much cooler than I am and will look fabulous in it.
~Koku Myrto Clutch ($108.75): I couldn’t find this exact clutch online either, but I found a super close one so I am going with that price. When I first saw the spoilers for this I thought it was just a plastic fish. But it’s actually a plexiglass shark, which makes it much more interesting. And the fringe is super fun too! I have seen a few variations of this bag and I think the one I received is my favorite. I still kind of want a few others as well though.
~Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Spray Sunscreen SPF 30 ($10.79): I know not everyone was happy about the drugstore brand being in this box, but I don’t mind. We go through so much sunscreen around here that an extra bottle is always welcome.
~Surya Brasil Sapien Women Shavel Gel ($20.39): Although this is a women’s shave gel, I will probably end up giving it to B to shave his chest with. I never use a shaving cream on my legs because I can never tell the difference between using it and not using it. Maybe I am just using the wrong stuff?
~JOICO K-Pak Intense Hydrator Treatment ($16): I haven’t been using all my fancy haircare treatments like I should be so this is great timing. It’s a good reminder to start taking better care of my hair so it’s not all crazy. I will be using this tonight!
~ORIBE Dry Texturtizing Spray ($21.50): Ohh, I love this stuff! I still have some left from the one that came in the Neiman Marcus PopSugar box, but this one will be awesome for traveling. This is something that I would splurge on, but getting it included in subscription boxes is even better.
~Calvin Klein ONE Pure Color Lipstick (Entice) ($16): Totally a SIL item. She gets all the lipstick I receive and loves it. I think last time I saw her she had about 10 different tubes in her purse. The packaging on this reminds me of a giant pill, but I like it!
~Formula X from Sephora Nail Color (Push the Limits) ($10.50): I am not sure if I have never tried Formula X from Sephora? It seems crazy to think that I haven’t, but I didn’t see any when I was organizing my polishes and since we all know I don’t ever finish an entire bottle that probably means I haven’t. I think this color is great and I am happy to give it a try.
~Isla Saona Palm Tree Clutch from PRINT ALL OVER ME (~$20): I can’t find this actual clutch on-line, but I found the print in some other designs and kind of guessed at the price from there. Totally love this pouch and while it’s fairly similar to the one from the PopSugar Summer Box, I don’t mind. They work for the beach, to organize your bag, to hold your planner supplies, pretty much anything.
~Red Flower Refreshing Hand and Face Towelette (Italian Blood Orange) (Sample): I like Red Flower candles, but I wasn’t aware that they had a skincare line. I am going to need to check that out further.
~Symmetry Series Brazilian Pop! Otterbox case for iPhone 5/5s or Galaxy S5 (Coupon Code) ($49.95): Happily I have an iPhone 5 so I will be able to use this. It was designed by Nina Garcia with Otterbox to celebrate the spirit of Brazil. I have never owned an Otterbox, but it’s probably about time since I drop my phone constantly.
~MELISSA Shoe Ornament ($30): According to MUT, these shoes were launched as collectible items to celebrate some new collaborations the brand MELISSA is doing with various artists and architects right now on the design of their shoes. I am kind of obsessed with this little shoe and am hopeful that I can trade for all of the other designs. In addition to the black one that I received, I believe there is a white, a gold and a pink? They are so not cute that they are cute to me!
~Frends ELLA Headphones ($99): I should not be trusted with such expensive headphones. I am going to have to make these at home only ones so that if they get lost I know that they are here somewhere! I tested them quickly and can’t tell too much of a difference between my Apple ones and these, but I’m bad at that kind of stuff so maybe they are?
~NEST Fragrances Scented Candle (Bamboo) ($14): I love me some NEST candles. They are pricey so I don’t often buy them on my own, but they make great gifts and are always a special splurge!
All totaled I came up with a value of $446.88 for the Nina Garcia Quarterly Co. (#NGQ03) which is pure insanity since this box was only $100. I thought this box was fabulous and now I am even more excited to get my Fall box. Is it September yet? Ha! As I was going through everything this afternoon I just kept thinking, why didn’t I subscribe to this box sooner? It’s right up my alley and I am thrilled.
Did you get the Nina Garcia Quarterly Co. box? What did you think and what variations did you get? This box is now sold out, but you can get signed up to get the #NGQ04 box here.
