Summer 2014 FabFitFun
Summer 2014 FabFitFun

Yay!  Today’s mail haul was amazing which is just the way I like it!  One of the many packages I received was my Summer 2014 fabfitfun box.

If you aren’t familiar, fabfitfun is a quarterly monthly subscription box that includes hand-selected items (the “hottest of the season”) in beauty, fashion, fitness, and wellness from Giuliana Rancic and the fabfitfun team. fabfitfun is $49.99/quarter and just announced that beginning with this Summer box, they are shipping to Canada!

The Box

fabfitfun ships via USPS Smart Post and took the standard week to arrive.  I think they shipped in waves because I know that some people had received their boxes already and mine hadn’t even shipped yet!

First Look

I knew what was in this box (fabfitfun released three of the items in advance and I stalk for spoilers), but I was SO curious to see what variation I received for one of the items.

The Information Card

The Summer 2014 fabfitfun included the following items for summer:

~Sonya Dakar Flash Facial ($95): I actually got sent this to test out from the folks at FFF last week and have been quite pleased with it so far.  I was worried at first that it would burn or tingle or make my skin super tight or something when I put it on, but it didn’t.  What it did do was leave my skin nice and soft.  I can’t wait to see how the results look after a few weeks.

~Pur-lisse SPF 30 Daily Essential Moisturizer ($55): Pur-lisse has been everywhere lately!  I don’t necessarily mind getting more of the same products I have gotten from other boxes, but of course I would prefer something totally new.  I’ll either keep this one in my stockpile or I will pass it on to a friend or to my mom.

pur-lisse pur=protect SPF30

~Thursday Friday Mini Clutch ($35): This wasn’t my favorite pattern for the bag, but it wasn’t my least favorite either. I like the clutch a lot and will probably end up trading for a few more of these. No idea what I will do with them all, but I like them!

Thursday Friday Away Mini Clutch / Makeup Bag

~Balanced Guru No Frizz Oil ($25): My hair to pretty much straight and flat (without all my sea salt sprays anyway), but my fly-aways are crazy if I don’t put some sort of oil on there or something.  I tested it out right away and it did it’s job nicely.

Balanced Guru No Frizz Oil

~FabFitFun Water Infuser BPA-Free Water Bottle ($15): I could do without the saying on here, but the actual bottle itself is cool.  I did just get a bottle in my PopSugar box and I just bought an infuser, but that’s fine by me. I have half dozen mason jar mugs, so why not three different infusers?

~Zoya Nail Polish ($9): I just spent way too much time organizing my nail polish the other day, but I am happy to make some adjustments for this.  I love the color (although I have no clue what the name is since it doesn’t say) and I always am pleased with the Zoya formula.  It’s very consistent between colors and they always have great sales.

Zoya Nail Polish

~KISSTIXX Lip Balm (Chocolate / Strawberry) ($5.99): I like this because it was on Shark Tank (I love all things Shark Tank even if they don’t get a deal) and because it’s lip balm.  I am probably outside their target market, but I don’t care, I think it’s cool anyway.  B isn’t addicted to lip balm like I am, but I think he will make an exception for this.

~POPChips ($1.29): I love POPchips!  Sure they aren’t anything new, but they are pretty darn good.  Have you tried their tortilla chips?  They are actually even better than the regular chips.

~Skintimate Shave Gel ($1.99), Always Xtra Protection Long Daily Liners ($1.50), Slimfast Have Your Cake Meal Bar ($1): There has been a lot of talk (generally not so good) about these “sponsored items”, but I don’t mind them.  To me they are just extras.  I am guessing that these companies paid for placement in the box which helps pay for shipping and all that other good stuff for fabfitfun.  They make up less than $5 of the value of the box, so it’s not as if they were half the boxes value or anything crazy.  Now if I was giving this as a gift maybe I would have felt a tad differently, but I’m not sure.  But if you don’t think you’ll use them, drop them off at your local women’s shelter. I am sure they would be thrilled to get the donation!

All totaled I came up with a value of about $245 for the Summer 2014 fabfitfun box.  Was it my favorite fabfitfun box ever? No!  I think maybe a fun makeup palette or a summer tote would have worked nicely in here.  It just needed something else to totally WOW me.  But I did think it was easily worth the $49.99 cost of the box.  The pouch and the flash facial alone are worth it to me.

Did you get the Summer 2014 fabfitfun box?  What did you think?  What pouch variation did you get?  If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here.  You can also use the coupon code “FLASH10” to save $10 off your first box which makes it only $39.99!  Ohh, and I should also mention that all subscribers who have been with fabfitfun since last summer got an e-mail with a code to send a free Summer box to a friend!  How cool is that?  I am giving away another box I purchased here, but who knows, maybe a friend will gift you their free box!
