I could not get my August 2014 Escape Monthly box in the house fast enough today! This is one of the boxes I have been anticipating the most this month so I was thrilled to see the mailman with it this afternoon.
If you aren’t familiar with them, Escape Monthly, which is $49.95/month, is a monthly vacation in a box. Each month you will discover products from a different location. Products consist off local and destination-inspired foods, relaxation and beauty essentials, and the highest quality products that bring the life of the destination right to you. They also offer an “Escape Mini” ($24.95/month) which contains 4 to 5 luxury, locally-made products and a travel brochure.
Escape Monthly ships via USPS Priority Mail and, once it started moving, took two days to arrive. Boxes were a bit delayed this month due to a customs issue with one of the products which only increased my anticipation.
Aren’t the Escape Monthly boxes the cutest? I love the colors, the chevron, everything. Oh, and the products didn’t look so bad either ;).
The August 2014 Escape Monthly theme was “Paris” and included the following local favorites:
~Rick Steves Pocket Paris Travel Guide ($12.99): There was a brief discussion about a family trip to Paris in a year or two, so maybe I will need this sooner rather than later. I certainly hope so. I visited Paris after I graduated from high school, but I would so love to go back. And L wants to visit as well because he’s dying to see the “real” Eiffel Tower (aka not just the fake one he sees when we go to Las Vegas).
~Pierre Biscuiterie French Butter Cookies ($4.25): Butter cookies? Say no more. I am a fan!
~Institut Karite Paris Shea Butter Hand Cream ($26): Oh how I love expensive hand creams! This is the product that held up the box this month and it was so worth the wait. It’s thick and fancy and fabulous. I will be trading for more. Oh and what is that pink one in the picture on the information card? Does this come in other scents?
~L’Abbaye de Flavigne Gourmet Candy ($5):I’m not sure about these. They have a slight anise taste to them, but it’s not overwhelming at all. They wouldn’t be my first choice for candy, but I also don’t hate them.
~Edmond Fallot Mustard ($6.25): Meh. I have gotten so much mustard in subscription boxes this summer. I have no idea if we’ve used any of it or not yet and I would like to keep it that way. If B’s sneaking it in my food and I think it tastes good without knowing I had it? Well, I’d like to keep it that way.
~Nuxe Body Scrub & Shower Gel ($16): It actually took me a minute to realize that these were different products. These smell fabulous and are 100% plant based. How cool!
~(Bonus) Bonne Maman Strawberry Preserves ($3): I have gotten these in a few boxes in the past and have always been a fan. It tastes good and everyone in my house likes it!
All totaled the August 2014 Escape Monthly “Paris” box had a value of $73.49 and I loved it! I am thrilled with the majority of the goodies in here (the only thing I could pass on entirely is the mustard) and plan on bringing some of them up-north for the weekend to share with my cousins! They went to Paris last summer and fell in love with the city, so they will certainly love all of this just as much as I do.
