Today was another great mail day around here and included the arrival of my August 2014 ipsy bag!
If you aren’t familiar, ipsy is $10/month and sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-6 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Their bags always have an incredible value (well over the $10 cost) and I am always amazed at how they do it.
ipsy ships via DHL Global Mail (starts out as DHL and is delivered by USPS) and took eleven days to arrive this month. Some months it takes only four or five days. Some months it takes double that. You just never know!
As usual I peeked (okay I basically stalked it until the reveal happened) at my ipsy bag so I knew what I was getting already. But I had been pretty happy with my what saw in “My Glam Room” so I was hoping that it lived up to my expectations. I believe there were seventeen different products this month and each Glam bag contained five of those seventeen.
The August 2014 ipsy theme is “Beauty Schooled” and included the following items to help you get “schooled” this month:
~Absolute Lip Balm (Green Apple) ($3): LOVE! I was happy to get the balm instead of the tube and I love this scent. I was surprised, however, that it was red instead of green. Green apple = green. LOL! I guess I didn’t think about the fact that it was tinted? Anyway, for $3, I may just have to get the rest of the flavors of this. Has anyone ever seen these in the store? I need to find them.
~GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD® Tinglexfoliate Treatment ($20.29): OMG yes! I was so excited when I saw this in my Glam room. I still have one sample left of this and have been “saving” it because I don’t want to not have a back-up. It’s such an expensive product, but I so love it.
~Urban Decay Perversion Mascara ($5.50): When I saw the spoiler this month for the Urban Decay I was so hoping to get the mascara instead of the eyeliner and I did! I actually love getting the smaller mascaras because I have trouble finishing up a full sized tube and these smaller sized actually let me try more that I receive.
~Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil (~$5): I have no idea what the price is of a full size eyeliner since the Lord and Berry shop is down, so I guessed at the price. This will end up in the gift / trade pile since eyeliner isn’t my thing. I am sure I can find a good home for this.
~Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo ($7.83): I have tried this in the past (I want to say I got a full size in Wantable a while back) and really liked it. This little sample will work great on vacation. I will recommend NOT applying too much though. A little bit goes a long way.
~The Bag: This month’s bag reminds me of a pencil case (that’s probably the point) and I plan to use it as just that! Or maybe a bag to store just lip glosses in? Decisions, decisions!
All totaled I came up with a value of $41.62 for the August 2014 ipsy bag and I am beyond thrilled with it. There is only one thing (the eyeliner) that I am going to end up passing along to someone else which is awesome. For $10 I got an incredible ipsy bag this month! I don’t always get such a fabulous bag, but it’s month’s like this that totally make up for those other months!
