August 2014 PetBox

PetBox, who kindly sent me this (Premium) box to review, is a monthly subscription box for pets (dogs or cats) that allows you to select what items you wish to receive in your box!  They are (I believe) the only box out there that allows you to do this. You can opt to select your own items this month or you can opt for a “Surprise Me” box where PetBox will hand-select your items for you. You can opt for a dog box, a cat box, or a combination dog / cat box. I receive the “Surprise Me” Dog Box to review on a monthly basis.

The Box

I receive my PetBox via FedEx during the first half of the month, but my box is a review one so I am not sure how regular subscribers receive theirs.

First Look

With the “Surprise Me” option, PetBox selects your items for you.  If you opt to select your own items you are allotted 800 points and are able to “shop” with your points (items are assigned point values in the store).  Someone reported last month that they were able to select 6 items with their points, but of course this would fluctuate based on what you select.

The Information Card

Since you can customize your box and because “Surprise Me” boxes are customized to your preferences, they don’t include an information card.  My box isn’t totally customized to me, it’s more of an example of items you could select for your box.  Here is what was included:

~Clean Paws Doodie Bags ($5.99): Who doesn’t need doodie bags?  That name cracks me up.  LOL!  I think it’s cool that they are made with recycled plastic and fun that they are scented.  Well, as fun as “doodie” bags can be anyway.

~Alcott Essentials Adventure Bowl ($9.99): These always come in handy, especially on long car trips or walks.  You can easily fold it up and store it away in your bag or even the bottom of a stroller.

~BePawsitive Oven Baked Dog Biscuits ($12.95):  These treats are made in small batches and are oven baked.  I am going to share them with my brother’s dogs since they are more into bigger treats than my dogs.  My little dogs like little tiny soft treats best.

~Pawtastic Fleece Pet Toys ($10): Love this! It’s handmade and might be one of the first pet items I have ever received from etsy.  So cool!

~Piggy Twizzies ($5.26):  Ohh, the dogs will be fighting over this shortly I am sure! Even if I had two of them they would totally fight over just the one. It makes no sense, but they do.  Or they spend so much time protecting their half that they never get a chance to chew on it.

~fordirtydogs Unscented Dry Shampoo ($10):  Ohhh, I never even thought about dry shampoo for dogs.  I love it!  This stuff is awesome and I tried it on the dogs right away yesterday.  Fabulous.  I do wish it had a shaker top or something (it’s just an open jar of powder) so it wasn’t as messy, but I owe whoever thought of this a thank you!

All totaled I came up with a value of $54.19 for the August 2014 PetBox!  Baxter and I thought it was a fun box and I loved that we didn’t recognize any of the items in the box.  That always makes it more fun.
