The Music Box, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a subscription service that sends music and fun gifts to your front door for only $10 a box! They hand pick emerging artists (keeping in mind your favorite genres) and send you new music every month. Additional items that may be included in your Music Box are CD’s, posters, stickers, wristbands, t-shirts, and much more!

The Music Box ships via USPS Media Mail.  Media Mail can take anywhere from a few days to a week or more to arrive.

First Look

B is digging these boxes and was excited to see what we’d get this month! The Music Box doesn’t include an information card, which I am guessing is because boxes are personalized to your tastes.  Like I mentioned last month I filled out my profile based on B’s taste which is alt rock’ish.  Here is what my box included:

~Morning Fatty “Out of the Hat”: Morning Fatty (love that name) describes themselves as a “4 piece funk, reggae, rock band with gnarly guitar solos”. B and I both liked them (we listened to the cd’s we got on the way to the beach yesterday) and he described them as sounding a bit like Sublime.

~Noted. “Silent”: B described Noted. as sounding similar to Paramore. We actually liked this one a lot as well. B is keeping all these CD’s from The Music Box in his car and actually keeps them on regular rotation. I think he likes being in the know about new bands!

~The Extras: The extra goodies this month included Ninja Turtle tattoos, a beach ball and an “All Rights Reserved” t-shirt!  I love that they include these bonus items and think they make it extra fun!

Just like last month, I didn’t do a cost breakdown on the August 2014 The Music Box, but I think that the $10/month price point is awesome.  If you want to get introduced to some new artists you might never have heard of otherwise, this is for you!

What do you think of The Music Box?  If you are interested in subscribing or just want to find out a little more, make sure to check them out!

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.
