Zoobean, who kindly sent me this package to review, is a monthly subscription service which helps you build your individual child’s literacy with remarkable children’s books and apps selected just for him or her.  You may select from a monthly book delivery service (from $9.99/month) that gives you one hardcover or paperback book each month, along with an app recommendation + literacy guides or a digital service option (from $2.99/month) and receive weekly personalized app + book recommendations that come with literacy guides.

This selection is for L who is 6 years old.  I also received a book for WB (he’s 2), but I haven’t done that review yet.

Zoobean ships via USPS Media Mail.  Sometimes Media Mail takes over a week to arrive, but this appeared in just a few days.

The Book

Henri’s Walk to Paris

L’s book selection this month was Henri’s Walk to Paris (which is selling for $15.11 on Amazon right now) and is yet another book we don’t have!  I don’t know how they do it, but Zoobean consistently selects books and apps that we don’t own.  L’s up-north so he hasn’t read the book yet, but I read it and quite liked it!  I am not familiar with the author (Saul Bass), but from what I am hearing / reading about it, I should be. The illustrations are fabulous and this is a totally timeless book.

The App

Mr. Sandman: Fear of the Dark
Mr. Sandman: Fear of the Dark

Our app selection this month was “Mr. Sandman: Fear of the Dark“.  It’s $3.99 on the App store and I am not sure if we will end up downloading it or not.  I probably end up getting 40%-50% of the apps they recommend for the kids.  I actually get more of the ones recommended for WB than for L because he likes to pick his own apps.

The Zoobean plan I received is $16.95, which includes the monthly hardcover book + the digital reading guide + the app selection and app companion.  If you are interested in just the Digital Service, it’s $2.99/month and you will receive a weekly email that includes an expert created Reading Guide or App Companion along with a book or app recommendation.  And then you can pick up the book at the bookstore or borrow it from your local library!

GlamGlow is also on Costco’s website. I didn’t find it in my Costco store, I think it may be online only. They also had an online special for some Whish products for an extra $4 – $10 off through the end if the month.

Ohh I didn’t know Costco sold it online. That’s awesome.
