I almost couldn’t believe it, but my Fall 2014 Allure Beauty Box arrived this week!
If you aren’t familiar, Allure releases Beauty Boxes on a seasonal basis and have been for years and years. The boxes are jam packed with tons of products and are an incredible value. This season’s box was $44.95 and went on sale on the 26th of August. The last few sales have been kind of a mess (they sell out so fast and the site gets slammed), but this one went much more smoothly. And seemed to be much easier to snag. I think was available for at least 45 minutes. Sometimes they sell out in less than 10 minutes, so 45 minutes was good.
The Allure Beauty Box ships via UPS and took only a few days to arrive. It used to take a few weeks to ship, but this one shipped almost the day after I purchased it. I was very impressed.
I went back and forth on this box a few times and decided that I would pick it up IF the ordering process was easier this time. And since it only took five minutes to order, I jumped on it.
The booklet includes a little information about each of the products in the Fall 2014 Allure Beauty Box. The contents of these box are always shown in advance, but the booklet is a nice reminder. And a great way to track if you received everything. There are SO many products in this box that it’s nice to double check. Here is what was included:
~Aloxxi Dry Shampoo ($20): I love dry shampoo and this didn’t leave any white residue like some of the ones I have tried do.
~Arm & Hammer Spinbrush Truly Radiant Battery Powered Toothbrush ($8.97): Oddly this was one of the items I was most excited about. We always need new toothbrushes and these are great.
~Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Toothpaste ($3.48): Thanks to subscription boxes, including the Honest Co., and coupons / sales, I can’t even tell you the last time I bought toothpaste at the store and actually had to pay for it. I am super weird about toothpaste, but I liked this stuff when I tried it.
~Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths ($2.97): These do what they are suppose to, but really just remind me of adult baby wipes.
~Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lip Crayon ($8.99): Burt’s Bees has great lip products and their crayons are no exception. I love the color and it went on very smooth.
~Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser ($9.19): Yes! A giant container of cleanser is awesome. It’s one product that I just don’t get enough of. So many lotions and serums and creams and masks, but cleansers? Not so much.
~Clean & Clear Advantage Daily Soothing Acne Scrub ($5.99): My skin is still breaking out (maybe from my frequent switching of products), so hopefully this works.
~Curel Rough Skin Rescue Lotion ($8.88): I am going to give this to my mom. Ever since I can remember she’s had a big bottle of lotion like this on her counter which pretty much guarantees I never have dry hands at her house.
~Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash ($8.99): A total L item. I am going to put this in my shower for him so he doesn’t use half the bottle of my shower gel. For a little kid, he uses a lot of product.
~elf Studio Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths ($3): These are great for traveling, but I wouldn’t use them everyday. They kind of make you have to scrub to get the makeup off your face and I think they’d irritate my skin if I used them too much.
~Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Oil Nourishing Styling Treatment ($22.95): I haven’t been drying my hair much this summer (I’ve just been letting it air dry), so it’s not as dry and damaged as it has been in the past. But I can always use something to help with flyaways and this does that.
~Jergens Natural Glow + Firming Daily Moisturizer ($8.69): Oh my gosh, I remember when this (although it didn’t have the firming part back then) first came out and it was actually hard to find. I haven’t used it in a while, but I always liked it and could use a “tan”, so I will be starting with this asap. It really is easy to apply and does look natural.
~John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Colour Protecting Shampoo ($4.99): I have actually used this in the past and have been pleased with the results. I always use it with the Brilliant Brunette conditioner though so I will need to pick one up.
~John Frieda Frizz Ease Go Curlier Heat-Activated Spray ($8.99): I will be passing this on to one of my cousins. I don’t have naturally curly hair (they do though) and my hair requires about half a can of hair spray before it holds a curl with a curling iron.
~John Frieda Precision Foam Colour Intense After-Colour Conditioner ($11.92):Perfect timing because I need to dye my hair like last week. I actually planned on doing it yesterday, but I only had a “deep auburn” color so I need to pick up a brown today.
~Make It Straight ($12.99): This is suppose to give you salon blowout results at home. My hair already is naturally as straight as it is on the box, so this will also be gifted / traded.
~Neutrogena Triple Repair Fortifying Leave-In Treatment ($5.99): Leave in treatments are the best because I never remember to rinse stuff out and find the masks you have to leave on your hair for 30 minutes to be a time suck. This is much better and hopefully will fix my split ends.
~Organic Doctor Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Restorative Treatment Conditioner ($24.95): This looks great! It’s not something I would buy on my own without trying first, which is why I love subscription boxes and this Allure box. A lot of this box is drugstore products I have tried before, but its also got items like this that are totally new to me.
~Organic Doctor Organic Tea Tree Face Wash ($14.98): I used this cleanser this morning and I really liked it. It’s totally new to me, but it left my skin feeling clean and refreshed.
~Real Techniques Blush Brush ($8.99): I have gotten this brush in the past (maybe in a NewBeauty TestTube?), so this one will be passed on to a friend.
~Redken Blonde Idol BBB Spray ($19): I’m not blonde, but I will pass this on to a blonde friend. This is suppose to balance, beautify and brighten blonde hair .
~Sally Hansen Miracle Gel ($15.99): So I love the look and lasting power of a gel manicure, however, I cannot stand trying to get it off my nails. And going to the salon to get it taken off drives me crazy. This is suppose to give you the benefits of a gel manicure, but is easy to remove. I need to get in a pink mood and test it out this weekend.
~Tresemme 7 Day Keratin Smooth Heat Activated Treatment ($6.98): I have always wanted to get a professional keratin treatment, but I have been scared to ever actually do it. This will be an awesome (and inexpensive) way to try it.
All totaled I came up with a value of $247.87 for the Fall 2014 Allure Beauty Box. It certainly wasn’t the most valuable box they have offered, but for $55 (including shipping), I think it was worth it. I think next time though I am going to split this with a friend so that I don’t have so.much.stuff!
Did you get the Fall 2014 Allure Beauty Box? What did you think? This box is sold out, but as soon as I hear something about the next one they offer (which will likely be the Winter one in November or December), I will report back!
Now I kind of wish I’d gotten this. I use a lot of those products already! Also I received that gel polish set from influenster (mine was red though) and reviewed it on my blog. It’s so-so. Definitely quick and easy to use. But I barely got a week out of it, so not sure it’s any better than normal polish with a topcoat. It is easy to remove though, unlike regular gel polish. I like that pink you received!
I highly doubt I will get two weeks out of it. I can’t get a week out of normal polish though. I am just so rough on my nails.
Mine is scheduled to come today and I can’t wait!
What a haul! So sad I missed out on this!
Overall it seems like a nice box. Tea Tree Oil is good for acne. I also remember when the Jergens Natural Glow came out. It was a big deal. Enjoy your box. I didn’t order it, but may order the winter box depending what is in it.
It was such a huge deal when it came out. So funny that we both remember that!
oh! I would love to try the blond stuff!
my water is so bad for my hair so I’ve been using whatever I can find to make it better
Oh just e-mail me. I will send it to you.
You really are one of the kindest.
Aww, thank you!
Jennifer,
Here is a gel polish removing hint I got from my manicure lady. Take like half a cotton ball, soak it in acetone, lay it directly on your polished nail, and wrap foil around the top of your finger. Let it go for half an hour, check on it, and if the polish starts to peel off, you’re good to go. If not, let it go a little longer. You could have both hands done by the time an episode of Teen Mom is over, lol. I just got my first gel manicure yesterday. But she said this works, if I don’t want to come back in to have it removed.
I think that is what they do at the salon to remove it (minus the30 minute part). I guess I could remove them late at night??
I use a nail file and scuff the top up a bit so that the remover soaks in better. Or at least I feel like it does! I’ll even do this with regular polish/top coat if it’s being stubborn, and it seems to work like a charm.
Ahhh yes please… one of the girls would love any Frizz ease products get. I buy gobs of this stuff
It’s all yours!!!!!
Man, the make it straight product looks awesome! I have the craziest hair imaginable.. 🙂
Bummed I passed on this – I had no idea that EVERYTHING would be full size!! I just assumed deluxe sample. Definitely will purchase the Winter box as long as it’s filled with half of what I like. Good review!
I figure that even if I don’t use it all, it’s still an amazing deal. Everyone needs toothpaste and shower gel and all that!
I might have to see if we have that straight hair thing in Canada, that looks really interesting. Lots of great products in that box, still hoping they will start shipping to Canada one day, and without crazy shipping costs!
I hope they do! It’s such a deal!
Ugh the make it straight is kinda awful. Very time consuming, makes your hair smell horrible( going on four days for me) and it didn’t work. My hair is still wavy. Everything else I loved, but I wouldn’t purchase that.
I’m glad I found your review! I was thinking of trying the make it straight, I spend a lot of time straightening my hair and this sounded so awesome, but now not so much. I read one other person said besides the terrible odor, it changed the color of their hair. Don’t think I will be buying this…
Mine comes tomorrow!!! I can’t wait. Thank you so much for turning me onto all these deals!
I am wearing the gel polish from the box now. It is quite the pepto pink but I don’t even get three days with normal polish (chip skip, base coat, two coats, top coat included- hello oily nails!) so if I get a week I will buy this in every color. (There is a coupon for $2 off under the lid of the box too). I was wondering if I could use this top coat with my 1 million Julep polishes to get the same staying power. That is my next experiment.
Thanks for all your reviews!
Report back on that! I would love to know what happens!
I noticed that you didn’t have the Organic Doctor Organic Dead Sea Mineral Bio-Plasma Mud Mask in your review. I wasn’t sure if it was missed among all the other Organic Doctor products or if they left it out of your box.
Hmm. I don’t believe I received that. I didn’t see it in my information book either (although I should probably double check that)?? Did you get all the other Organic Doctor products and that one too?
I did receive them and I think they are great products, so I did not want you to miss out!
Never mind…I see it in the top picture. I just wanted to make sure you received it.
