October 2014 Birchbox Man

B’s October 2014 Birchbox Man box arrived this afternoon, just as he was getting home from his trip.  He’s exhausted, but he wanted to open this right up.

If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox Man is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.

The Box

Birchbox Man ships via USPS through Newgistics and took only two days to arrive here.

The Birchbox

I thought the boxes were going to be special this month because it was inspired by “THE LEAGUE” which is a show on FXX but I guess not?  Maybe we didn’t get a special box because ours was a bigger box than the normal Birchbox?

First Look

I had peeked at B’s box in advance so I knew exactly what to expect.  Well not exactly.  I didn’t know what size everything would be so that was a surprise.

The Information Card

The October 2014 Birchbox Man theme was “Fanfare” and as I mentioned, was inspired by  FXX’s hit series “THE LEAGUE”.  B received Box #16 (*) which included the following:

~Basics for Men by Beckman Ultimate Tough Skin Relief ($0.54): You can use this cream on elbows, chapped hands or icky heels.  This rocks and we’ll be getting the full size for sure.

~das boom Industries Bay Rum, Smoke & Dirt Everything Body Wash ($3):  Love the name of this body wash.  It smells good and he’ll certainly use this up.

~EastWest Bottlers Moonshine Cologne (~$1): This one is described as dark and woodsy and is laced with tobacco, leather and gin.  And I love it!  I hope B wears it this weekend.

EastWest Bottlers Moonshine Cologne

~English Laundry Pomade (~$2): Totally stealing this for L.  I am constantly searching through B’s stuff in the morning for a good hair product for L and this is it.  Perfect!

~Thread & Biscuits Polo T-Shirt ($34): Not too sure if I like this or not.  I would have (and B would have too) preferred it to just be all one color instead of a different color collar and arm bands.  It’s also a bit on the small side for B so this will end up traded or donated I think.

All totaled I came up with a value of $40.54 for the October 2014 Birchbox Man box and that doesn’t even include the points for purchasing the box (**) and reviewing the products, which would bring the value to $47.54.  I may need to do a little revamping of B’s profile though so we start to get some Lifestyle items that work better for B.  We’ll see what next month brings us!

Do you get Birchbox Man box this month?  What’d you think of the box this month and what lifestyle item did you get (I think there was quite an assortment of options this month)?  If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here!

(*) If you want to see all the boxes this month, click here and change the 1 at the end to anything from a 2 to 27 since there were 27 (up from last month’s 26 variations) box variations this month. If you can’t figure out which box number you got, login into Birchbox and then Click “Box” and select Men’s or Women’s. Scroll down a bit to were it says “Box History” and click the month of the box (in this case October 2014). The number at the end of the URL is your box number. B’s box ended in “october-2014-mb16″ which means he got box #16.
(**) You only get points for purchasing the box if you buy a prepaid annual subscription (or 3-month, 6-months, etc.). You don’t get points if you are on a month to month subscription.
