Today was another pretty good mail day here which included the arrival of my September 2014 Beauty Box 5.
Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription service that delivers a sample box of all things beauty. Each box contains 4 – 5 samples of a variety of makeup, skin care, fragrances and everything in between! Boxes are $12/month if you do a month-to-month subscription, however, I subscribed a while back when they had a crazy deal that brought the cost of an annual subscription down to $6.58/month.
Beauty Box 5 ships via USPS. My box took a total of five days to get to me (in MI) from TX which I didn’t think was too bad.
First look was so-so. Nothing looked overly amazing, but it didn’t look awful either.
The September 2014 Beauty Box 5 included the following fall favorites to help keep you toeing the line between taking care of yourself and embracing new trends:
~Nicka K New York Eyelight Crayon (Violet) ($4.49): This is fun! It’s easy to apply and gives you a smooth shimmery eye color. It’s super easy to blend too.
~Natural Style by FUBU Deep Conditioner & Co-Wash ($0.83): This isn’t the same FUBU as the clothing line is it? I am guessing no, but I guess it could be? Anyway, the conditioner is suppose to work as a co-wash for curly haired-girls and as a deep conditioner for all other hair types.
~Sally Hansen Toe Spacers ($1.99): Meh. I am not too excited by toe spacers. It’ll be a cute little add-on in to all the nail polishes I am sending in my cousin’s care package though.
~My Beauty Spot Nail Polish ($4.17): I’ve never heard of this brand before, but the color is really nice. I *might* even be able to get away with using just one coat too, which I never can do. It has a weird smell though. It’s stronger than most other polishes I’ve tried. Not too sure why that is, but you’ll want to open your windows when you put this on.
~Chrislie Formulations 3-in-1 Eye Bright ($13.60): I have yet to find a product that makes my tired eyes feel as good as just closing them and putting a cooling eye mask on, but that’s not always possible I guess. This did feel good when I put it on, but my container seemed like it was almost empty? Did anyone else notice this?
All totaled I came up with a value of $23.09 for the September 2014 Beauty Box 5. I’m just kind of meh on this box. Certainly not my favorite ever, but I still think it was worth the ~$7 I spent on it.
Do you subscribe to Beauty Box 5? What’d you get in your box this month? I know there are usually some variations, so I would love to hear what you got! If you are interested in subscribing or want to check out more, click here.
I got the same items as you, but my nail polish is in a mauve color and my eyeshadow is a khaki green. Nice fall colors. I was wondering about the FUBU too!
Oh I got the mauve polish too-it was my first box. The color looks awful on me kind of looks like I’m sick. I thought several layers would help, but that made it worse. I have a medium beige skin tone and that might be why.
The polish probably isn’t a 5 free like julep and other higher end polishes that all of us are spoiled by. Which is why it is super smelly and no so great for you 🙁
That probably is it!!
I got this egyptian magic all purpose skin cream ??? I’d rather have had the lash em 🙁 the fubu thing, lmao! ! I was a little impressed at how my hair felt afterwards bit the products I get from all my other subscription makes this company look … well, I’m grateful any who 🙂
