I was so excited to open the mailbox today and find my September 2014 Birchbox in it. I didn’t think it would arrive today, so it was a fabulous surprise.
If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox, which is $10/month offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes and get some complete steals (which I try to do).
Birchbox ships via USPS and took just three days to arrive to me. I actually thought it would take longer, but it was hustling this month.
I am so loving the Birchbox boxes this month! They did three different patterns this month, all of which are adorable.
I received Box #15 (*) this month. I couldn’t believe my luck when I checked out the sneak peek on the 10th. This box was so “me” that I just couldn’t wait to get it.
The September 2014 Birchbox theme was “Fresh Paint” and focused on diving into fall’s colors, textures, and inspiration. In addition, September marks Birchbox’s fourth anniversary so they are celebrating that as well. Here is what was included in the box:
~Atelier Cologne Vanille Intensee Fragrance (~$3): Oh my goodness, I wasn’t expecting this to be quite so fabulous. It’s a vanilla scent, but it’s also got notes of jasmine and bright lime. It smells like a baked good and if it wasn’t so expensive I would for sure grab this.
~Harvey Prince Ageless Liquid Loofah ($0.75): This sample is tiny and will probably only last one or two uses, but it smells great. I will likely end up buying a full-sized HP shower gel because it’s pretty reasonably priced and just smells so good.
~Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Honey Nectar ($7): I have one of these already so I was happy to get a different shade. It’s very moisturizing and gives a nice sheer color without being too much.
~Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate ($21.67): This was the sample I picked this month. This concentrate is suppose to strengthen the skin so it can fight against the signs of aging. It’s to be applied before serum and moisturizer and I’ll be starting tonight.
~Tocca Crema de Mano – Bianca ($5): Tocca makes the best hand cream. The best. This is a great size and will be perfect in my bag. The scent isn’t too strong and is a nice change of pace from my normal vanillas and florals.
~Bonus: Rouge & Co. Smoothing Shampoo ($1.30) & Conditioner ($1.35): These were bonus items this month and it’s a brand that is totally new to me. I am all about getting smoother hair, so I will try it.
All totaled I came up with a value of $40.07 for the September 2014 Birchbox. Including the points I get for reviewing the box (70 points = $7) and the points I got for purchasing the box (10 points = $1) that brings the value of my box to $47.07. I think this might be my all-time favorite Birchbox ever. I absolutely love it and couldn’t be any happier!
