I got a few subscription boxes in today’s mail, including my (well WB’s) September 2014 bluum box.

If you aren’t familiar, bluum (who acquired Stork Stack earlier this year), is a monthly box of goodies for moms and babies.  Products are hand selected based on your child’s age (from pregnancy to preschool), gender and developmental stage.

The Box

bluum box ships via FedEx Smart Post and took under a week to arrive.  This month’s box was huge and had me very curious about what was inside.

Unlike some months, this box was full of stuff and not just full of packing material.  Hopefully they are getting better about reducing the amount of packing material they use.  Sometimes it’s out of control!

The Card

bluum has changed up their information card a bit this month.  Instead of receiving a card with your child’s age on it (which would have been 33 months for WB (*)), this month’s card just said it was a September Toddler Box.  I don’t know if all Toddler boxes were the same this month, if they changed based on age or quite how that worked.  bluum sends you an e-mail after your box has shipped listing all of the contents in your box.  This information can also be located in your account on the website.  Here is what my box included:

~B Kids Bathtime Dolphin Flute ($7.99): WB is still in the process of figuring out how to use a whistle / flute, but he’ll figure it out soon enough.  L, however, knows exactly how it works and will love this.  In the water and out!  The louder the better ;).

~Snapea Crisps (~$2): I can’t get the kids on board with these (they used to like them, but not anymore), but I like them a lot!  They sell them at my local Kroger and I pick them up every once in a while.

~Child’s Play Big Day Out Book ($5.99): WB has been really into “reading” lately and likes to take a book to bed with him.  Now what he does with in the dark I don’t know, but he insists.

~Green Sprouts Compressed Wipes ($4.49):  Once you add water to these they turn into real wipes.  They take up basically no space in your bag and are very handy to have!

~Thinking Kids Math Pegs & Peg Board ($16.99): This is totally new to me.  WB wasn’t overly interesting in doing math with it, but counting and sorting by color? Yes.  Very fun!

All totaled I came up with a value of $37.46 for the September 2014 bluum Box.  I thought this box had a good assortment of items and everything will be used by us which is awesome.

(*) It’s a long story, but we used to get bluum ages ago when they just did those smaller sample sized boxes for 0-12 month olds. When WB was about 9 months, bluum launched their current box for ages 1+ and was still doing the sample boxes for babies 0-12 months old. I wanted to check out the new, bigger boxes for WB, so I aged him up a few months so he was 1. And he’s still aged up!

Those Snapea crisps are great! I’ve bought the really big bag at Costco a couple times and feel OK about eating a bunch of them. They have just the right amount of salt for those cravings. I think my daughter can tell them come from vegetables though because she won’t try them. We should be getting our Bluum box soon–I guess hers is 41 months? Eek!

Ha. I think my kids know too. They probably saw the bag and were like no way.

At least my girly is not the only one who likes to bring a book to bed with her at night.. she insists also!

It makes no sense, but I just go with it.

I have not been to happy with Bluum, so this was our last month receiving a box.
My 23 month old got a “First Words Book” for ages 0+ and he is clearly too old for this book. We also got the snapea crisps which he liked, a wobble fox toy, socks and my favorite, which was a book on easy nutritional toddler meals. It has ingredients and directions and nutritional value for each meal. The book has snack, entree, sides, salads, soups and dessert ideas. It was a great book.
    I still prefer Citrus Lane.

That book does sound good. I wouldn’t mind getting that eventually.
