Craft What?!?, who kindly sent me this package to review, is a monthly craft subscription box. Each month they you a box of materials and you are tasked with creating a craft using ONLY those items. After you are done you upload the picture of your project to Facebook and see what other subscribers created!
Craft What?!? ships via USPS. I had fun making last month’s craft, so I was excited to see what this one included.
The first look gave me no clue on what the contents were which made me even more anxious. I have been slacking on my crafting (and many other things) these past few months so this little box gives me a chance to get my mind creating.
The September 2014 Craft What?!? box theme was “Back to School” and as usual, challenged subscribers to “think outside the box, with the contents inside the box”. Here is what was included:
~The Supplies: This month’s materials included four cork circles, chalk, chalkboard paint, rings, a paintbrush, eyes and a gluestick. Hmm. I sat and looked at this for quite a while because I figured out what to do. I thought about coasters which I could label by name with the chalk, but that’s not exactly back-to-school like. Then I thought about making all passes, but ended up deciding against that as well.
The Final Product: I ended up making a caterpillar (in case you can’t tell by my picture what it is)! I thought it was “school like” and would fit in in a classroom. I am obviously not the best painter in the world because the last two parts of the caterpillar seem to have some issues. It looks better in person ;).
I couldn’t do a cost breakdown on the September Craft What?!? box, but the $10/month price point seems reasonable. It’s quite entertaining and really forces you to put everything aside for a few minutes and think only about making something.
