September 2014 Fancy Food Box

Yay!  My September 2014 Fancy Food Box is here!  I ended up skipping last month’s box, so I was totally anxious to get this month’s box.  I’d missed it!

Just in case you aren’t familiar, Fancy, which is $39/month (plus shipping), offers a “regular” Fancy Box full of cool goodies and celebrity curated boxes which include a collection of the coolest products hand-picked by Jennifer Love HewittVerbalKelly Rowland, Nicky HiltonCoco RochaSnoop DoggT-Pain and / or The Rockettes. They also offer the Fancy Food Box you see here, as well as, Fancy Mystery Boxes and their new Culinary Box.

The Box

Fancy Food Box ships via FedEx and took two (business) days to arrive.  It shipped on Friday and I received it today (Tuesday).

First Look

I tried to peek at spoilers on Instagram for this one, but couldn’t find a thing.  So opening it was a complete surprise.  The box was very heavy and was marked “Handle With Care. Fragile. Very Fancy.” which made me giggle.

The Information Cards

The September 2014 Fancy Food Box theme was “Lunch Box” and included everything you need to pack a killer lunch box.  Here is what was inside:

~Jalapeño Be Thy Name ($10): I am not normally a fan of spicy anything, but I can make an exception for spicy peanut butter.  Apples and this peanut butter?  YES!!!

Jalapeño Be Thy Name

~The Jam Stand Stroseberry Jam ($10): We are big fans of The Jam Stand around here.  We’ve gotten a few different flavors they offer in various subscription boxes, but this is the first time we have gotten Stroseberry.  I cannot wait to have this on some toast in the morning.

~Q Drinks Sparkling Soda ($2.50): I’m not sure where these came from, but I know we have had them in the past. L loves them and they are a special treat for him.  He gets to have soda minus all the sugar and other icky stuff.

~Green Mountain Mustard ($7): I am on serious mustard overload this month.  It’s everywhere.  And I am just not a fan.  I’ll give this to my mom or some other mustard lover out there because B can only use up a jar of mustard so fast.

~Megpies Pop Tarts ($6.50): Homemade Pop Tars?  Delicious.  I detest regular Pop Tarts, but this chocolate one is amazing.  If (when) I visit Brooklyn, I will make a stop in to their store.

~Key Lime Pie Marshmallows ($7.95): These are a little out there for me.  I like plain marshmallows, s’mores ones, etc. but key lime?  Not so much.  L will enjoy them though.

~Salty Road Salt Water Taffy ($6.50): We are big Salty Road Taffy fans around here.  I don’t think I have met a flavor of these I don’t like.  And they will work as a little treat in L’s lunchbox as well.

~McClure’s Bloody Mary Chips ($2.99): These are amazing.  Plus, they make their products here in Detroit, so what’s not to like?

All totaled I came up with a value of $53.44 for the September 2014 Fancy Food Box.  Not a great value by any means, but I loved the curation on this one.  And many of these things are not available around here so that adds value for me.  Still I would have loved to see maybe a bento box or something along those lines to round this “Lunch Box” themed box out.

Did you get Fancy Food Box this month?  What’d you think?  If you are thinking of ordering the Fancy Food Box, click here and get signed up! If you order now, your subscription will begin with the October box.  And if you are looking for any of the other Fancy Box boxes (including Mystery Boxes), I suggest just doing search for “Fancy Box“. It’s much easier than trying to navigate their site, which I find quite confusing at times.
