October 2014 Barkbox
October 2014 Barkbox

The furries received their October 2014 BarkBox over the weekend and were quite excited to dig into it.   I was lucky to even get these pictures taken because they were trying to grab items out of it!

If you aren’t familiar, BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. Each monthly box contains a combination of 4-6 treats, toys, and hygiene products that have been hand selected and approved by Scout (the dog), head product tester for BarkBox. Boxes can be customized based on the size of your pet (I get the Small box for the furries) and you can add an additional toy to your box for an extra $9/month.We have been getting BarkBox for ages and have always been satisfied with them.

The Box

BarkBox ships via DHL Global Mail and took under a week to arrive to me.

First Look

Right away I saw the Halloween paper and was hoping that was the theme.  I have been loving their themes lately and was hoping this month wouldn’t let me down.  Oh and I should mention that the box included a “Scout’s Honor” card.   It promised that if your pup was ever disappointed or didn’t like an item, that you could contact BarkBox and they would send you a replacement that’s better suited for them or they would issue you a credit of equal value to the BarkBox shop!  Pretty cool!

The Information Card

The October 2014 BarkBox was all about Halloween (yay!) and included the following spooky items:

~Simply Fido Ghost ($7): This was custom made just for BarkBox subscribers.  It’s a flat toy and has that crinkly paper inside. The dogs love it already.

Simply Fido Ghost

~Twistix Peanut & Carob Chew Treats ($5.69): I mentioned above my dogs are little so I get the small dog box, but these snacks are for Large (30+ pound) dogs.  At least that’s what it said on the package.  I could take advantage of their Scout’s Honor promise, but my dogs were totally fine with them and I really didn’t think they were just large dog specific.

Twistix Peanut & Carob Chew Treats

~Superior Farms Lamb Nik-Knacks Chews ($2.69): These were what my dogs were after when I was trying to take the pictures of the box!  I turned away for two minutes and they had picked it up and *almost* snuck away with it before I caught them.  Needless to say they loved them (there were two in the package).

~Plush Puppies Invincibles Cat ($7): How cute is this guy?  The kids and the furries both love it.  And it’s hard to describe, but it’s got a really cool squeak.

Plush Puppies Invincibles Cat

~Fruitables Chicken Skinny Minis ($5.79): I can’t remember where we have gotten these before, but the dogs love them.  They are perfect for them because they are little and soft and it doesn’t matter when the kids give them “a few” instead of just one treat!

Fruitables Chicken Skinny Minis

~Hare of the Dog Rabbit ($10): I expected these to be, well, more like jerky, but they were actually quite crunchy.  The dogs ran off with them very quickly though and I haven’t seen them (the treats, not the dogs) since, so I will consider that a good sign.

Hare of the Dog Rabbit

All totaled I came up with a value of $38.17 for the October 2014 BarkBox.  I thought they did a great job with the theme and I loved all their picks (even the “large” dog treats) this month.

Do you subscribe to BarkBox?  What’d you think of this month’s box?  If you want to subscribe or learn more, click here.
