October 2014 GLOSSYBOX
October 2014 GLOSSYBOX

GLOSSYBOX, who kindly sent me this sneak peek box to review, is a monthly beauty subscription box.  It costs $21/month and includes five luxury surprise beauty items shipped to your door. I love GLOSSYBOX and am consistently impressed at the value they pack into the boxes.  It’s seriously amazing.

GLOSSYBOX also does the best collaborations. Last month was a collaboration with Harper’s BAZAAR, they did a collaboration with Bergdorf Goodman a few months ago which may have been their best ever and they have also done collaborations with Dallas Shaw, The Man Repeller and Bydrie just to name a few! This month isn’t a collaboration, but there is never one too far away.

The Box

GLOSSYBOX ships via USPS.  They tend to ship towards the end of the month, so I generally don’t start looking for a shipping notice until after the 20th of the month.  In addition to getting GLOSSYBOX to review, I also have a subscription of my own which I pay for.  My October GLOSSYBOX hasn’t shipped yet this month.

The GLOSSYBOX

GLOSSYBOX’s boxes are my favorites.  They are sturdy and very high-quality.  Every time I make a box for a friend I use a GLOSSYBOX box.  They are a perfect size and hold tons of stuff.

First Look

As per usual, the GLOSSYBOX packaging was perfect.  Everything is always wrapped in tissue, closed with a sticker and tied with a ribbon.

Second First Look

Loved the first look!  I knew what was coming of course (full spoilers were leaked out yesterday), but I wanted to know what variations I received.  And I was quite happy with what I saw.

The Information Card

The October 2014 GLOSSYBOX contained the following items:

~Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint ($24) (Flush): Of the two color varieties this month, I was hoping to get Flush!  It’s a sheer berry and since I have the cheek stain in this color as well, it’s perfect.

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint

~Vince Camuto Amore ($5.74): I really like this. I am awful at describing fragrances, but the information card says that it’s a combination of fresh-cut flowers and fragrant fruits (among other things) and I would have to agree with that.  Just a caution with this one, the lid doesn’t seem super tight so I probably wouldn’t throw this in my bag like the card suggests.  It would spill all over my purse for sure.

Vince Camuto Amore

~nails inc. Westminister Bridge Matte Topcoat ($10): Love it!  I use a matte top coat as a base coat under lighter colored polishes so that my nails don’t show through or so I don’t need 10 coats!  It works like a charm.

~Sesha Botanical Hydro Mask ($9): I haven’t gotten a chance to try this yet, but it’s happening this weekend.  It’s supposed to give you an instant glow and I need that!

Sesha Botanical Hydro Mask

~Proganix Volume Root Boost Finish + Body Builder ($11.99):  There were a few different options for this one as well, but I received the”volume” one (the other varieties are Repair Reparative Oil + Anti-Breakage or Anti-Fade Hair Treatment).  My hair needs the volume and I have been eyeing this line with every single trip to Target.  I ended up buying some stuff from “Hair Food”, but I was seriously holding them both.  I thought it did give my hair a little boost, but I can’t say I am in love with the smell.

Proganix Volume Root Boost Finish + Body Builder

All totaled I came up with a value of $60.73 for the October 2014 GLOSSYBOX.  That’s more than 3x the cost of the box and I love that I will be able to use every single thing in this box.  And I will probably end up trading for another mask as well!  The box also included a $40 Hello Fresh Gift Card, but I didn’t include that in the value since it’s for new customers only and I am not a new customer (and it will cost additional money to try the service).  If you haven’t tried them yet though, I totally recommend it!
