October 2014 Hammock Pack

Today’s mail included the arrival of my October 2014 Hammock Pack! I signed up for this one a while ago after being jealous when I would see pictures of other people’s unboxings online!

If you aren’t familiar with them, Hammock Pack is a monthly surprise pack filled with everything you need to take a much needed getaway without even leaving your home. Boxes are geared towards women and each month you will receive a pack filled with a mix of food, bath products, housewares, and accessories that you’d only find if you visited that month’s destination city.

The Box

Hammock Pack ships via USPS Priority Mail towards the end of the month. As long as I have been a subscriber I haven’t had any issues with shipping or missing items or anything along those lines.

I couldn’t wait to see what they did with this month’s box, so I peeked on Instagram and found a few box pictures last night.  But I didn’t know what variations I would end up receiving so it was still a surprise.

The Information Card

The October 2014 Hammock Pack destination was Boston and included the following items:

~Fixx Chocolates – Lulu’s ($8.50): These chocolates are absolutely fantastic! So good.  I don’t even know what else to say other than that you should get your hands on some of these now.

~Zesty Cookie Co. Cookies (Hot Cocoa) ($6.99): Just like the chocolates, these cookies are amazing.  I have never had anything like them.  They have a hint of cayenne in them and you can for sure taste that kick!  I think there were a few different variations, but I am very happy with the Hot Cocoa ones I received.  And I now want to try all the other ones.

~Equal Exchange Organic Black Tea ($4.50): It should have been no surprise that this box included tea!  You know, because of the Boston Tea Party.  I am sure this tea is fabulous, but since I am not a tea fanI will be passing it on to my cousin to enjoy.

~Smudge Ink Whales Thank You Card Set ($13): How cute are these cards?  Thanks to subscription boxes I have a collection of some amazing note cards and stationary to send out.

All totaled I came up with a value of $32.99 for the October 2014 Hammock Pack.  Individually I liked all of the items (except for the tea, but that’s not their fault I don’t like tea), but overall I thought this box was missing something.  It was just over the $32 monthly cost of the box (which recently increased as it used to be $30/month), but I think one additional item, maybe a lip balm or a pair of socks or a hand cream could have made all the difference.  It was a tad too food centered for me as well.  Two food items and two other items may have left me with a different impression.

What do you think of Hammock Pack?  If you subscribe what variations did you get this month?  If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here.  The November Hammock Pack theme is “Seattle” which should be a fun one!
