Today was a great mail and one of the (many) items that arrived was my October 2014 ipsy bag!
If you aren’t familiar, ipsy is $10/month and sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-6 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Their bags always have an incredible value (well over the $10 cost) and I am always amazed at how they do it.
ipsy ships via DHL Global Mail. Some months it takes just a handful of days and other months, like this one, it takes over a week.
The October 2014 ipsy theme was “Beauty Candy” and included the following items:
~ECRU New York Acacia Protein BB Cream Beauty Balm for Hair ($12): Awesome. BB cream is just as awesome for hair as it is for your skin. They do different things, but are equally awesome. This cream smooths and adds shine, but doesn’t weigh your hair down at all.
~Figs & Rouge Hand Cream ($6.56): I have tried this cream a few times in the past and have always loved it. It totally made the bag for me this month. Once I saw it in the spoiler I instantly knew that no matter what my bag contained, if it didn’t have this I would be disappointed. It’s totally ridiculous, but what’s what I was thinking. However, here it is! It smells great, works amazing and I am thrilled.
~noyah Lipstick (Deeply in Mauve) (~$9): Totally a SIL item. Or maybe I will save this for one of my girlfriends who comes over with her daughter to shop my makeup stash. She probably wonders why I never have any lipstick in there (it’s because I separate all that out for my SIL who loves it).
~NYC New York Color Big Bold Curl Mascara ($4.99): Meh. I am not excited or disappointed by this. I am glad it’s not eyeliner though. I’ll throw it in my purse for emergencies.
~Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths ($5): I have been on a huge skincare kick these past few weeks and am still trying to perfect a routine to keep these breakouts at bay. These will be great for those way too late nights when I need to wash my face before bed but am too beat to do it.
~The Bag: When I first saw this bag on the site I wasn’t thrilled with it. But now that I have it in my hands it’s actually really cute. I can’t use all these little bags myself though, so I end up donating some and / or making little beauty beauty bags for people.
All totaled I came up with a value of $37.55 for the October 2014 ipsy bag! I thought I got some great variations and knew that as long as I got that hand cream I would be really happy with this bag. As always, it was well worth the $10/month cost!
Did you get this month’s ipsy bag? What variations did you get? And what’d you think? If you are interested in subscribing or interested in learning more, click here.
I got my Ipsy bag earlier this week. The bag itself is my favorite out of the last few months. They color is what really sells me. In my bag I got
-Ayres Body Butter
-Epice Exfoliant
-City Color Lipstick in Cappuccino
-Kiss False Lashes
-ModelCo Mascara
I don’t use falsies or lipstick (I’m more of a gloss girl), so im trading those on eDivv, and I’m hoping to find the hair BB cream. Otherwise, the other products are a total win for me.
I feel the same way about false eyelashes. I was cracking up because a friend came over and was like I LOVE wearing these,so I loaded her up with like 10 sets from various boxes!
I love the bag! I wish i had subscribed to ipsy for it 🙁
you will send your lipstick to meeeee
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
This month was my first Ipsy! I like the bag, it’s pretty cute.
I’m in grad school, and I don’t get a lot of mail so I was super excited to get a package for once. I was also really pumped for the Figs & Rouge lotion because I’ve had friends who loved it and have let me use a little bit– it worked wonders on my ridiculously dry skin, but I have never had my own.
In my first ever bag, I got:
-rose berry lotion
-the waterproof eyeliner
-the starlooks lipgloss
-Warm Love Pumpkin Exfoliating mask
-Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser
I don’t have a lot of complaints, even though I’ve heard a lot of people weren’t fans of this month’s items. The only issues I have is that I don’t even know how to put on eyeliner so it wasn’t listed as something I wanted on the test thing, and the lipgloss is only slightly darker than the skin tone of my lips, which makes it a little blah to me.
The only thing missing to me is the sample of Rihanna’s perfume. I reeeeally wanted it, as I’m a mega perfume girl.
That is a fun treat to get every month in school! Best of luck!
Your bag is great! The trick to washing your face at night is to wash it before you are tired. It works and makes a difference.
I always put it off and think, oh I’ll do that later…
This might just be one of my favorite Ipsy bags ever!
I received:
The same lotion but in Mango Mandarin scent (love it!)
Doll 10 Highlighter (honestly, I’m not really sure what one does with highlighter…)
City Color Be Matte Lipstick in Cappuccino (such a great casual color)
Model Co Mascara in black (I normally wear brown mascara, but it’s useful anyway)
Skyn cleansing cloths (love!)
And I love the pouch too. Such a pretty color!
I love that Mango scent too!
I like the idea of your mascara emergencies 😉
This is a great bag, I wish I hadn’t cancelled!
Ha! You never know what will happen!
I’ve not tried Ipsy yet (not really a makeup person). But I just found they have offices in my town. I was out for a walk with my daughter and turned a down different street on our way home and there they were. Ipsy sign on the doors of some old fashioned office space. It was a nice warm afternoon and they were working with a door open to the courtyard area. Maybe they have local events sometimes? I know Birchbox emailed about something up in San Francisco. I guess I should get on the email list for Ipsy too, even if I don’t subscribe.
I don’t know if they ever do or not? I haven’t heard of them doing anything along those lines, but you never know!
A question, for anyone who knows, and a comment too:
Does the Figs & Rouge rose berry hand creme have a very strong rose/floral scent?
Also, the Skyn cleansing cloths are extremely refreshing and give an almost tingly, chilly feel. It’s awesome as a wake up or pick me up feel, but at night it might not be such a desired effect, lol.
I didn’t think mine was very strong at all. I have gotten the larger size before and feel like it was more rose, but that was long time ago, so I can’t be certain.
I loved my bag! The only thing I got the same was the hand cream, and mine was the mango mandarin scent – so good!
What else did you get?
I got the lip gloss, cleanser, eyeliner, and highlighter. I will admit to being a bit of a makeup newbie, and I can’t quite figure out how to use the highlighter – I love the rest though, especially the cleanser which smells like strawberries 🙂
You Tube it! There will be a video on there for sure.
Oh my gosh! I did not know that the BB lotion was for hair! I guess I should have completely read everything or at least your blog before putting all over my face! Haha! Bright side it smells good! My hand lotion though was mango, the only thing I am allergic too!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! It’s not bad that I laughed it is? Were you wondering why it didn’t have any tint to it?
Got my Ipsy bag last week and I was really happy with it.
1. The Rose Berry lotion
2. False eyelashes
3. The makeup wipes like you got
4. The Jessies Girl baked eye shadow in a reddish color
5. The matte lipstick
