Olfactif, who kindly sent me this box to review, is the first and only monthly perfume subscription box. Each month subscribers receive some of the finest and hardest-to-find perfume samples from niche artists around the world. Samples are contained in 2.25mL glass vials and each vial has enough for 15 – 20 wearings. In addition, you will receive an $18 credit to put toward a full bottle of a featured scent, every month.
Olfactif ships via USPS around the 1st of the month. If your first purchase is before the 15th of the month they will ship out your collection immediately. Otherwise your first box will ship around the 1st of the following month.
Just like last month, this month’s box included instructions on how to smell the scents. All of the scents are contained in a fancy black case that slides open.
The October 2014 Olfactif theme was “A Change in the Air” and included the following scents:
~Ginger Ciao: This fragrance has notes of black coconut, night queen, tiger lily, neroli, ylang ylang, ginger, and basil. It’s a pretty scent, but I feel like it’s too strong for me. Maybe strong isn’t even the right word. Maybe it’s so spicy / too deep for me?
~Yesterday Haze by Imaginary Authors: This scent has notes of include fig, iris, cream tonka, tree bark, walnut bitters, and orchard dust. I like it more than I liked the first one, but I don’t think it would be my signature scent or anything. Although, the longer it is on, the better I like it.
~Aperture by Ulrich Lang New York: This is my favorite scent from this month’s collection. It has notes of aldehydes, pink pepper, black pepper, white papper, tobacco, jasmine, cedarwood, muguet, musk, vetiver, ambergris, animalic notes, and amber. Every time I sniff it it smells different. Which I guess is no surprise with all those different notes in it. This is seriously an incredible scent.
As with the September collection I am quite pleased with October’s Olfactif. It’s full of scents I would never have found on my own and I love that. I also love that the perfume is in spray vials and doesn’t just have an open top.

I feel the same way about the second one – the longer it stayed on the more I enjoyed it. It mellows into something very warm and soft.
