Little Pnuts, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a quarterly toy subscription service for children aged 0 to 5. Their goal is to get children back into imagination, creativity and play through their quarterly deliveries. Each special delivery will feature 3-5 organic, eco-friendly, natural or sustainably made toys, selected and curated for your children based on their age and developmental stage.
Little Pnuts ships via FedEx Smart Post. Shipments occur in March, June, September and December, however, since this box was sent to me to review, it shipped in October.
I was very impressed by the first look! All of the items looked great and I could tell already that WB would love it.
Our September 2014 Little Pnuts box for a 2.5 year-old was the “Back-To-School” shipment and included the following items:
~HABA Wigglefants ($27.99): The information card says this is $13.99, but that is a typo (although if you ever find this game for $13.99 scoop it up because it’s awesome). You get cards with building patterns on them and you have to replicate the pattern with the wooden elephants. It takes patience and balance and we are having a great time with it already.
~Janod Animo’z Alphabet Cards ($9.99): One side of these has the letters (capital and lower case) and the other side as a letter and an animal that begins with that letter. WB can identify most of the animals, but the letters? That needs some work! I absolutely love that these are all attached on a ring so you don’t have to worry about losing any.
~Plan Toys Bird Tower ($10):I used to play with blocks a ton when I was a kid and love to do the same with my kids. They are both really good builders and I think they will enjoy building with these and seeing if they can get them all stacked together without it crashing.
~Plan Toys Tie Up Shoe ($8): We have one of these, but I don’t quite know where it is right now? WB doesn’t show too much interest in tying his shoes yet, but it won’t be long. L is still perfecting his skills actually and could use this too.
All totaled I came up with a value of $55.98 for the September 2014 Little Pnuts box. It’s just about the cost of the box (which would be $60) if you buy an annual subscription. The benefit of course is that the toys are curated just for your little one and are not always toys you’d find at your local store (I don’t think any of my local big box stores carry any of these items actually). And the information card is correct, these toys will last forever and will be passed down from generation to generation. I am planning on saving all the wooden toys and blocks like this that we have for L and WB’s future little ones!
