My November 2014 bluum was yet another of the boxes to arrive this week. If my mailman didn’t think I was crazy before, he certainly does now. It’s been a wild week!
If you aren’t familiar, bluum (who acquired Stork Stack earlier this year), is a monthly box of goodies for moms and babies. Products are hand selected based on your child’s age (from pregnancy to preschool), gender and developmental stage.
bluum ships via FedEx Smart Post. It starts out with FedEx and then ends up being delivered by the Post Office.
You never know what you will get with bluum, so opening the box is always a complete surprise. If you get a box for this same age group next month it may be totally different. Actually, there is a possibility that if you get this same age group for this month it might be different. You just never know.
The card included in the bluum box doesn’t include product information. Rather, that information is sent to you in a e-mail on the day that you receive your box. WB’s November bluum box was for a 35 month-old (*) and included the following items:
~Crocodile Creek – Rabbit (Max) ($4.99): Max is an adorable bunny who also happens to be on super clearance right now at Crocodile Creek (the reg. price is $19.99). WB already has two stuffed dogs that he MUST sleep with every night (L actually has two stuffed dogs as well), so this guy will probably just hang out on a shelf or in the basement.
~First time – School ($5.99): WB will be headed to preschool next fall and while he gets that L goes to school and has visited his classroom, I’m not sure he gets what you do at school all day. This will give us a little head start to hopefully ease into it!
~Look At Me, I’m A Robot ($4.49): This is such a cute book. I think L likes it better than WB does. You can hold the book up to your face and see what you look like with all the different robot faces.
~Wonderful Wildlife 1,2,3 ($6.29): WB liked this book, but it’s not my favorite to read. He liked pointing out the animals and counting though, so as long as he likes it, I am happy to read it.
~Manhattan Toy Miniwinks Hare ($3.95): The tag says that this is a Hare, but I gotta tell you, I don’t see it. At all. My guess was a baby raccoon. This is really small (it would fit in the palm of my hand) and might end up getting stolen by the dogs.
All totaled I came up with a value of $25.71 for the November 2014 bluum box. Not too amazing considering that the box is $29/month. Had the big rabbit not been on clearance it would have been more “valuable”, but I always include current prices, not original retail prices. Either way I wasn’t overly impressed by this one. I like the books (who doesn’t like books), but nothing really wowed me. It was all just kind of standard stuff.

I know you have mentioned this before, but Bluum is so hit and miss. I am so glad I finally cancelled my son’s subscription. I did not see any value in the majority of the boxes we received. So many of the items were not even for his age. I wish Bluum would do a little research and put in the work to put together better boxes.
Agreed about the hit-and-miss aspect. Loved the first two boxes I got from them, but haven’t been too happy with the last couple months. My daughter is 3.5, and one of the items in this month’s said it was recommended for ages 6 and up! It’s a magic trick-type thing that’s way beyond her. I like that they tend to include books, since my daughter loves them, but I didn’t get any this month. I haven’t been that happy with Citrus Lane since they joined with Care.com either, so need to decide whether to keep either of the boxes when my 6 months is up with them (in a month or two). Any other kid box recommendations? Googaro seems too young now (got that for a few months). And she’s not into crafts, so not so sure about the Kiwi Crate stuff. Austin Lloyd maybe?
I got Bluum for the first time for my 37 month old and I was very pleased. We got the same robot book you did, disposable compressed wipes from green sprout (20 pk), wear a pear shoe snaps (3pk), Melissa & Doug numbers peg puzzle and Eeboo play masks set (great quality and so cute) I priced it all out on amazon and it was $46 and charge. Really looking forward to seeing what he gets next month.
That sounds like a good box!
I love seeing your reviews on these boxes I know my kidlets would have loved this stuff and that rabbit is so cute!
He is really cute!
I had to order the rabbit…and 9 other items 🙂 Can’t pass up a great deal!
Who can?
