I am taking a little break from Black Friday deals (although you can still find them all here) to do my review on the November 2014 Hammock Pack!
If you aren’t familiar with them, Hammock Pack is a monthly surprise pack filled with everything you need to take a much needed getaway without even leaving your home. Boxes are geared towards women and each month you will receive a pack filled with a mix of food, bath products, housewares, and accessories that you’d only find if you visited that month’s destination city.
Hammock Pack ships via USPS Priority Mail. They generally ship on the 20th of the month, however, shipping was a tad delayed this month due to the snow storm that hit the east coast.
I hadn’t gotten a chance to look for any spoilers on this one, so opening it was a complete surprise. And I could tell right away I liked it!
The November 2014 Hammock Pack destination was Seattle and included the following items:
~Simple & Crisp Dried Apple Crisps ($4.99): I normally like dried apples, but I don’t love them or anything. However, I think maybe I just haven’t been giving them enough of a chance. With cheese and wine, I think these would be absolutely perfect!
~Jcoco Vanuatu Coconut Pecan Bar ($7.95): I think in a different favor, maybe “noble dark” or “edamame sea salt” I would have enjoyed this a lot more. Don’t get me wrong, I will never be sad to get chocolate, but I’m not a big fan of coconut.
~Herbivore Botanicals Bamboo Charcoal Cleansing Bar ($10): I have never tried “bamboo charcoal”, but I can’t wait to see how this bar works for my skin. I really like cleansers and masks with charcoal in them so I was super excited to get this. I was doing some browsing on the Herbivore Botanicals site and I must say, everything looks fantastic.
~Red Leaf Oatmeal, Milk & Honey Body Wash ($7.99): I love this line! B and I have both gotten a few items in subscription boxes from Red Leaf and we have both been quite pleased with the quality. They make good stuff. This body wash smells good and they are right when they say that a little bit goes a long way.
~Lake Champlain Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar ($5): Because of the delay, Hammock Pack included an extra surprise in everyone’s box. It wasn’t on the information card and was wrapped in purple tissue with “Enjoy” hand-written on it. I was thrilled to see this and let me tell you, they can delay shipping anytime if they make it up to me with peanut butter chocolate bars.
All totaled I came up with a value of $35.93 (that includes the bonus item) for the November 2014 Hammock Pack. I really liked this box and think it was one of my favorites to date!
What do you think of Hammock Pack? Did you get a box this month? If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here. They haven’t announced the destination for December yet (may I suggest Detroit??), but I will let you know when they do!
I was confused about the Vermont chocolate bar in a Seattle box, so it makes sense that it’s an extra. Seattle can be a fun family getaway! I took my son when he was 10, and he loved the Space Needle, the Science Museum, and the ferry trip we took to Bainbridge island because he had so much fun taking photos on that. We also enjoyed the Japanese dollar store in the mall, really good donuts and liege waffles.
Yay, Seattle! Not sure how I didn’t realize that someone was sending a Seattle box this month! I should check out Red Leaf and Herbivore Botanicals…
Thanks for sharing! I’m from Seattle and never heard of any of these brands! I’ll definetley have to check them out!
Haha- I was about to say the same! I live an hour south of Seattle but I’m there a lot. I have heard of herbivore. Good stuff. Besides that, I would have expected some coffee beans, maybe smoked salmon if they could swing it, maybe something from nordstroms, sur la table…
Do you like hammock or hazel lane better?
While I like the mix of products in not sure how “seattle” this box is, Ive lived in Seattle my whole life and never heard of any of these brands, and really no coffee?! That’s what we are known for!!
