I haven’t seen too many posts about the Birchbox Favorites Sets, so I thought I would share my thoughts on the one I picked up with their 25% off Black Friday / Cyber Monday code. I opted for the Birchbox Favorites Finishing Touches Set which is $49 (although I only paid $36.75 since I used that coupon code).
All of the Birchbox Favorites Set come packaged in cute drawstring bags. It’d be great for traveling or to throw in your tote bag or whatever.
The Birchbox Favorites Finishing Touches Set includes the following four Birchbox go-to products:
~beauty blender Pack of 2 ($28.95): Really, who doesn’t love beutyblenders? They help your makeup go on smoothly and let it blend very easily. I have a few and love them, but they don’t last forever, so a spare (or two) is always nice.
~Color Club Cocktail Nail Polish Dark N’ Stormy ($8.50): I have always been a fan of Color Club polishes and I love this shimmery grey color. I am going to try to do my nails in this color next with a little silver glitter at the base of the nail. Any tips on this?
~Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss (Birchbox Pink): Love this color! I am a sucker for exclusive colors like this. It’s shimmery, goes on smoothly and isn’t sticky at all.
~Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($21.50): If I play my cards right I am never going to have to pay full price for this stuff. And that is exactly what I am hoping for. It’s so fantastic and gives my hair great volume, but it’s so expensive!
All totaled I came up with a value of $78.95 for the Birchbox Favorites Finishing Touches Set! I thought it was a fantastic set and I have to say, I am a little tempted by their Lip Service Set ($39) and their “Making Eyes Set” ($59).
If you decide to pick up one of these sets (or anything in the Birchbox Shop), their latest Gift With Purchase offer features Frends Ella Headphones in Gold (a $99 value) which are free with any shop purchase or $150 with the coupon code “FRENDS” at checkout.
And of course, you can still add a Mystery Sample Pack to your cart on ALL shop orders of $35+ as well! Men’s Mystery Sample Packs are also available! This was the Mystery Sample Pack I received with this order:
Not a bad set at all! What have you gotten in your Mystery Sample Packs??
That set looks great! My mystery sample packs lately have been total duds. Yours gives me hope mine will improve.
You should head on over to the MakeUp Talk thread about Birchbox mystery sample packs. SOOOOO many people have been getting foils of Hairkop shampoo/conditioner/treatment and/or expired products lately. I got all foils once and complained and they sent me a replacement (remember, they say this stuff has a value of $10!).
Although my last mystery sample pack was good, a Harvey Prince body lotion I had never tried and a Laqa lip lube in Menatour (magenta/purple).
(By the way, I’m happy to see a review of one of these, so thanks for posting it.)
I have gotten SO many of those Hairkop foil packets lately! I’ll have to send an email – the last few I reviewed definitely weren’t worth $10. I haven’t gone on Makeup Talk in a long time.
Although your site isn’t a democracy can I put in a vote to going back to having all the posts show in full instead of having to click “continue reading”. I’ve always loved that you gave us all the whole post and am sad to see that change. If you don’t thats ok I’ll still be here reading every day. 🙂
I like it too. I guess I get people wanting to be surprised and not see spoilers, but it’s so fun and not that serious,….
I second that. : ) Makes for much easier reading when it’s all right there. The continue reading takes away the flow of the page.
Another issue is that having it all on one page makes it load Soo slow! I’m trying to fix another way though too so maybe I will be able to go back to everything on one page and just go the click through for the spoiler ones??
Oh people are serious about not wanting to see spoilers!!! lol! But I get it and I’m going to try and figure out something that makes everyone happy!
And it is democracy pretty much! I can what everyone thinks!
I’m glad to see a review. It looks like a great set.
I got a mystery sample pack yesterday that had five items! An Ofra eyebrow pencil (full size!), Ursa Major fantastic face wash, Cynthia Rowley creamy lip stain, Balance Me wonder eye cream, and Marcelle 8 in 1 power serum. I was so shocked and impressed. Birchbox has been great lately. I have purchased several of the gift boxes at a discount and considering re-subbing for the monthly box!
By the way Jennifer, I love your blog! Keep up the great work.
5 items! You hit the mystery sample jackpot!!!
And thank you!!
After the Fridays letters update I decided I would give the new layout a try before I voiced my opinion.. But I hate it 🙁 I will admit that when I began my obsession with subscription boxes I became an advocate of “mysubscriptionaddiction”. It was shortly after I discovered your blog and fell in love with the simplicity and ease of scrolling through your posts. Fast forward over a year later and I check your blog daily and never check the other blog. This is because I love your content and loved the ease of scrolling through your posts. I’m shaking my head at this new layout as it reminds me too much of other blogs and your blog always stood out to me. I think this new layout will cause you to lose a lot of daily viewers as it takes away from the simplicity your previous layout had that we all loved. 🙁
It has only been a day! But I totally hear what you are saying and I get it. Other than the spoilers, another reason why I changed it was because of the load time. My site loads SO SLOW because the posts are so image heavy and it drives me absolutely bananas! And I am sure that is why a lot of other blogs change their layouts as well! I am still tweaking some things and hope to figure out a better way to fix all the issues!
Thank you for your feedback!
I don’t think it loads too slowly! Except when I read on my phone using my data instead of WiFi. But all sites load slow on that. 🙂
I don’t mind the new layout, but I do prefer the old one. Mainly for cell usage and laziness.
I got the sample pack- in an unceremonious zip-lock sandwich baggy. 1- hairkopp foil pack leave-in conditioner & foil pack perfume. Super underwhelming! However, I tried the conditioner and really liked it (now less underwhelmed).
I love “Ramblings” & can’t wait to read it each morning no matter what the layout! I really appreciate your clear & fun writing style, super-cute kid/dog/etc pix and life updates along with all the good deals!!!
ok I feel a little stupid asking this question but I don’t wear alot of makeup but what is a beauty blender? what does it do?
Hi Jennifer!
First, I want to say I LOVE your blog. However you decide to redesign it I will continue to be a daily reader. 🙂 With that said (since you asked for feedback), I’m not loving the new format. It was so easy to read through the posts before and now I am finding it is taking me more time. But…. I can also see a couple good things about it. If I weren’t a daily reader who consumes EVERY post you write, I think this format would be easier to scroll through posts and just read the once I was interested in. Also, I’ve been spoiled a few times for Popsugar when I accidently saw your pics before I received my own box, so it would be nice to have some of the spoilers hidden…
