Decemeber 2014 Birchbox Man

B’s December 2014 Birchbox Man arrived over the weekend!  B opted for the Nick Wooster Guest Editor box this month which we were both anxious to check out in person.

If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox Man is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.

The Box

Birchbox Man ships via USPS through Newgistics and took just a few days to arrive this month.

The Box in the Box

Like last month, Birchbox allowed subscribers to select their lifestyle item this month.  The December lifestyle options were The Knottery Navy & Red Striped TieIzola 3oz. Flask or Nice Laundry Socks (2 pairs).  You could also opt for the Nick Wooster Guest Editor Box, which we did.  The contents of the guest editor box were revealed during the selection choice window, so it wasn’t a surprise what was inside.

First Look

To be honest I didn’t know who Nick Wooster was before we opted for this box, but I could tell that he had style!  B’s box didn’t have a number this month (*)

The Information Card

The Birchbox Nick Wooster (who it turns out is just a straight up stylish guy with an amazing resume) Box included the following items:

~Nick Wooster Capsule Collection Zipper Case ($38): Now I wouldn’t pay $38 for this zipper case on my own, but I do love it!  It’s wool and is the perfect size to put in your carry on.

~Baxter of California Exfoliating Body Bar ($2.29): I like that this isn’t just soap – it’s an exfoliating bar.  It’s made with pumice, jojoba meal and olive seed.  I do need to warn B not to use this on his face though!

~Malin + Goetz Sage Styling Cream ($5): We love Malin+Goetz around here and this is an awesome styling product!  Once L’s hair gets a little longer, this will be great for him as well.

~Kiehl’s Oil Eliminator Deep Cleansing Exfoliating Face Wash ($3.24): Another great pick from one of our favorite brands.  I don’t think that B has ever tried this item in the past, but I am pretty sure it’s going to become a staple.

~Davines Naturaltech Rebalancing Shampoo ($10.20): This is such a great sized sample.  I have always been happy with the Davines brand and I think B will be too. I do wish it would have included the conditioner too.  Even if it were a smaller size + conditioner.  I always think they should be sent together!

All totaled I came up with a value of $58.73 for the December 2014 Birchbox Man box and that doesn’t even include the points for purchasing the box (**) (20 points = $2) or the points for reviewing the products in the box (5 items = 50 points = $5), which brings the real value to $65.73. I was really happy with our pick of the Guest Editor box and am very curious to see if this is a new monthly thing.

Do you get Birchbox Man box this month?  What’d you think of the box this month and what lifestyle item did you get? If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here!

(*) If you want to see all the boxes this month, click here and change the 1 at the end to anything from a 2 to 37 since there were 34 (up from last month’s 25 variations) box variations this month. I can’t quite tell how you can figure out what box number you got unless you go through all the options anymore, so if you know I would love to hear!
(**) You only get points for purchasing the box if you buy a prepaid annual subscription (or 3-month, 6-months, etc.). You don’t get points if you are on a month to month subscription.
