Eek! I got mail today! On a Sunday. I absolutely love when that happens and was this close to giving the mail lady that brought my boxes, including my December 2014 Citrus Lane Box, a hug! I get two Citrus Lane boxes per month, one for WB who is 2.5 (born in April 2012) and one for a 4.5 year-old (which I randomly selected with a birthdate of May 2010). Both of my boxes happened to be exactly the same this month (this rarely happens), but I am going to call this the 2.5 year-old box.

If you aren’t familiar, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription box for babies from 0 to 5 years old which contains four or more products selected especially for the age and stage of your child. Citrus Lane is $29/month, but they always have great coupon codes that let you try them out very inexpensively!

Citrus Lane ships via FedEx Smart Post and took only five days to arrive this month. That might be a record!

First Look

This month’s boxes were quite heavy.  I had seen a few December CL boxes, but I am never quite sure what I’ll get until it arrives.

The Information Card

The December 2014 Citrus Lane box included the following practical and sweet and snuggly items:

~Pizza Play from Green Toys (~$10): This is a Citrus Lane exclusive set, so I had to estimate the price.  I have looked at the Green Toys pizza set a few times but I never actually bought it.  And I am so glad I never did because here it is!  I am putting this in WB’s stocking for sure.

~Little Hoot from Chronicle Books ($7.99): This book is adorable!  And happily we don’t have it so that’s awesome too.  After we are done with our 24 days of Christmas books, we’ll be reading this at night!

~Stamp Set from Melissa & Doug ($9.99): I expected this to be much smaller than it was. It’s actually a really nice size and WB is going to go crazy for the train stamp!  He’s going to have to wait until Christmas though because this is going to be a stocking stuffer too!

~Jammy Sammy from Plum Organics (~$1): Both boys like these a lot and they are a really handy grab and go snack.

All totaled I came up with an (estimated) value of $28.98 for the December 2014 Citrus Lane box.  It wasn’t my favorite (or the most valuable) box to date, but it was a solid box and helped me out with stocking stuffers which I certainly appreciate!

Have you read Little Pea and Little Oink too, the whole series is super cute. Also Spoon is by the same author. Awesome books. Hope your littles enjoy!

I have noticed that the value of my box is about the $30 I spend on the subscription so I decided to just cancel it and wait for mystery boxes. I also shop their store all the time for the items I want to get my nephews and nieces. That way I get what I want for their prices but get great deals with the mystery boxes!

Yes, if you are doing the month-to-month at $29/month it’s not really a deal at all! That’s why I always get the longer subscription!

Hmmmm… I love the stamp set but for some reason I expected more from the holiday citrus lane box.

I don’t think the pizza set is an exclusive. I saw the same set by them in a box at homegoods today for $16.

Just this little size one is a CL exclusive. They don’t sell just the pieces like this anywhere else. At least that’s what the card says. The other pizza sets from Green Toys have a pizza cutter and a pizza box.

Very cute box. We aren’t getting a box this month but that’s ok since we already have the stamp set which is actually unopened on the craft cart. I might have to get it out during track out.

My daughters should come sometime this week and I’m really debating opening it and wrapping the toys. But she loves opening “her box” every month so I’d hate to take that away from her. She’s only three though so she probably won’t even remember. I’m so conflicted haha.

Just curious but I got the exact same box and our owl book said $7.99 on the back. Is yours different?

    1. theramblingjen

OMG I am cracking up. I didn’t even think to look at the back of the book. But I just did and you are totally right. $7.99. I will get it updated!

      1. Em

Sorry I just thought maybe I had missed something or they had possible sent out hardbacks to come and paper backed to others. Thanks for verifying for me!

      2. haha, I did the same thing for my review, even the chronicle website sells them for like $14.99 and I linked to amazon pricing because it was less! I can’t believe they mark them as $7.99 yet sell them for almost double that on their website!

We received our first box today (14 month old girl) and I was really pleased with the contents, but really displeased with the mail-carrier who left the box to sit in the rain all day. We received the scrappy cat, which my daughter has not put down yet; the wooden Hape counting stacker, the Little Pea board book (which I am praying will dry or it will be ruined) and 2 Love Child organic food pouches. All in all, a great box. The food pouches were a little young for my daughter, but I understand that kids at this age are all over the place developmentally. I contacted customer service about the wet book. I am hopeful that they will be able to help.

I have a 9 mo old daughter and got the same box as you but instead of the hape stacker, got a hape clown rattle. Am disappointed as the rattle is for age 0 plus, and my daughter has long outgrown it, while the stacking toy is age 12 mo plus, and she would have enjoyed growing into it. I guess I need to age her up with citrus lane as this isn’t the only time we’ve gottrn stuff she has outgrown. I’m pretty much over CL for that reason and am giving Austin Lloyd a shot via their cyber Monday deal.
