Global Delights, who kindly sent me this box to review, is an international food subscription box. Each month you will receive between eight and ten international food items from a wide variety of food types from a multitude of countries. Foods will range from cookies and candies to soups and entrees.

Global Delights ships via USPS always takes just a few days ago arrive.

First Look

Global Delights sends such a wide variety of items that you really don’t ever know what you will receive.  There packaging is great and I haven’t had any troubles with broken items or anything along those lines.

The Information Card

The information card doesn’t have a ton of details on it, but I am just happy there is one in the box!  Sometimes I can’t quite tell what I am looking at with international foods and if the label is in a different language, well you won’t know until you try it. So an information card is always handy!  Here is what was included in my December 2014 Global Delights box:

~Moong Dal (India):Hmm.  I wasn’t sure if these needed to be cooked or if they were to be eaten as is.  I read the entire package (some of which was in English) and still couldn’t figure it out.  I finally called B in for a consult and he said they are to be eaten as is.  So we tried them.  They are VERY salty and greasy, but not bad.  If you have a salt craving I can assure you that these would do the trick.

~Pan di Stelle (Italy): These are absolutely amazing.  I need to find them at one of my local gourmet grocery stores asap.  They were crunchy, but not too overly so and had just the right amount of chocolate.  So good.

~Walnut Candy (Korea): The information card says that these are walnut flavored, but I really didn’t taste that when I tried them.  They are soft chewy candies and I didn’t think they were bad, but I didn’t think they were good either.

~Marzipan (Germany): I don’t love marzipan, but if it’s in a cute little shape, well I will eat it.  I am going to save this for L and see what he thinks. The fact that it’s coated in chocolate may make it a bit tastier.

~Chocolate Coasted Wafer (Palestine): I have had these in the past and they are delicious.  Super tasty!

~Whistle Candy (Japan): These candies (which look like lifesavers, but taste kind of like sweethearts – or so I hear) make a whistle noise when you blow through the hole.  They are going in L’s stocking for sure. He’s going to think they are awesome!

~Meringue Biscuits (Switzerland): Mmm, so good!  And the fact that they are called biscuits makes them even better.  They aren’t cookies, they are biscuits.  And it sounds so much fancier!

~Pandan Flavor Layer Cake (Malaysia): I don’t know quite what I think about this.  The fact that I can’t figure out what it tastes like or if I like it has me intrigued.  So does the fact that it is green sponge like cake.  Very interesting.  I am going to pass some of this out on Christmas morning to my family who is coming over and get some more opinions.

~Sesame Chewy Candy (Vietnam): This is called candy, but I’m not feeling it.  Things with sesame seeds don’t feel like candy to me.

As usual, I didn’t do a cost breakdown on the Global Delights box because it would have been to difficult to try and figure in shipping since all of these items aren’t available for me locally. Or if they are, it would take me some time to try and track them all down.  There were eight items in this month’s box which worked out to be $4.50/item.  When you average out all the items, I don’t think it’s out of line for a subscription like this.  It saves you the trouble of seeking out new items to try and also exposes you to items you wouldn’t be able to find here anyway!
