Hamptons Lane, who kindly sent me this box to review, curates an amazing monthly box of artisan foods, kitchen tools, and serveware for the food lover. Boxes are $47/month and are revealed at the beginning of every month. Boxes are created around a monthly theme, such as Southwestern Fiesta, Summer Cocktail, The Best of BBQ, Coastal Italy, etc. Unlike most subscription boxes, you can skip the box if it doesn’t interest you during the first five days of that month.
The past few Hamptons Lane boxes have been too large to fit in their standard blue box. The December box arrived in a big brown box and was fairly heavy.
Everything was neatly wrapped and arrived in perfect condition. Since Hamptons Lane shows you the box at the beginning of the month you know exactly what’s coming, but I still think opening it up and looking at everything in person is fun!
The December 2014 Hamptons Lane theme was “Artisan Entertaining” and included the following items to help you become a perfect hostess:
~12″ 100% Natural Beeswax Taper Candles by Bog Dipper Wax Works ($9.50): Oh my gosh, I have not used taper candles in years. Not sure why because I really like them and I have some cute candlesticks.
~Aztec Chocolate Bitters by Fee Brothers ($8.50): Okay, clearly B and I need to start drinking more. Or making recipes that call for it. We have been getting so many bottles of bitters lately! This is the first bottle of chocolate bitters though which I think is my favorite.
~Fig Balsamic Vinegar by The Girl & The Fig ($10): Have have gotten this in the past (in a Hazel Lane box I believe) and it’s fantastic! The information card includes a recipe for Peach Ginger Pork Tenderloin which uses this and another item in the box. I’m going to pick up everything else we need to make it (which really isn’t much) so we can have it over the holiday break.
~Peach Ginger Jam by Bonnie’s Jams ($8.99): This is the other item that the pork tenderloin recipe calls for. There is another recipe in the information card for a Peach Ginger Pear Tart which calls for this as well. I have never made a tart before so this might be a fun activity for L and I over break too. He loves baking and is an awesome helper!
~Custom Wood Serving Board with Knife Slot by Hamptons Lane ($30 per Hamptons Lane): So I looked at both sides of this serving board, saw the knife slot and then proceeded to take a picture of the other side. What? It makes no sense. But I can assure you that this does have a knife slot and it will be very handy.
All totaled I came up with a value of $66.99 for the December 2014 Hamptons Lane box. Not my favorite box from them, but it’s all very useful and is well curated for the season!

Looks so tasty! Fear not, you can see the knife slot in the cutting board on your first look picture 🙂
