My January 2015 Stitch Fix arrived on Christmas Eve. I totally wasn’t expecting it and I am still not sure why it’s here since I received my last one less than 3 weeks ago? My only guess is that they aren’t shipping during the Holidays and didn’t want my next Fix to be delayed? While confused, I was happy to see it, so it’s fine.
Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for women, arrived yesterday. With Stitch Fix, you provide your style, size, and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. There is a $20 styling fee that is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces. If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. And if you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything! Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix. You have a few days to try everything on and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid USPS return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in.
Stitch Fix ships via FedEx. My box generally takes under a week to arrive to me and ships from San Francisco. If you sign up for monthly Fixes, they will automatically ship every 4 weeks or so. Or less sometimes.
I took everything out of the tissue paper, I kind of glanced at it and thought, what is this mess? It was a lot of patterns and colors and fabrics happening in there!
Stitch Fix comes with an information card which includes a listing of everything in the box, prices, and then a total of how much everything would be if you kept it all (it deducts your $20 styling fee and the 25% discount for keeping all of your items). Just to give you an idea, my box had a merchandise total of $366 and had I kept everything, I would have had to pay $259.50 (plus my $20 styling fee and that includes the 25% discount you get for buying all of the pieces). Oddly enough, this was the exact same total as my December Stitch Fix.
~Octavia Alana Reversible Plaid & Houndstooth Infinity Scarf ($34): I love the houndstooth pattern and the plaid in red, navy and black is perfect. It’s not super thick, but not super thin either. Just a perfect everyday scarf. Verdict: Keep.
~Henry & Belle Abana Ankle Length Skinny Jeans ($148): Meh. I like these, but I don’t $148 like them. That’s a kind of a lot (okay it’s totally a lot) for jeans I will probably end up every only every so often. Had they been half the price I would have been tempted to keep them. But at $148? I don’t think so. Verdict: Return.
~Sanctuary Marlene Pullover Hooded Sweater ($78): This reminds me of a chair my Grandma used to have. Hers was solid orange, but the material is exactly the same. And I love it! I am so keeping this. I love pullover hooded sweaters like this and the pocket in the front makes it even better. Verdict: Keep.
~RD Style Vivianna Open – Draped Knit Cardigan ($68): My love for cardigans is just as strong as my love for hoodies and this is a great one. The print is fun and it’s nice and cozy for winter. Verdict: Kept
~Kut From the Kloth Tamara Split Neck Knit Top ($38): The fact that I have already worn this pretty much seals the fact that I am keeping it. The material is beyond soft and it’s just a perfect black long sleeved shirt.
I love this month’s Fix! Had those jeans not been so expensive I probably would have ended up keeping those too. But wait. If I keep everything, it’s going to be $259.50 because I’ll get a discount of 25% on each item for purchasing my entire Fix. If I just keep the individual items I want, it will be $198. So technically the jeans would “only” cost me an additional $61.50. I may need to think about this one for a bit before I send it back!
