Every once in a while I like to do a little refresher on some of the amazing perks that Birchbox offers to their subscribers.  Two of my favorite perks are Reviews and Anniversary codes!  Here is a breakdown of the two:

Reviews: If you subscribe to Birchbox I am guessing (hoping) you already know about reviewing your products for points, but if you don’t know or if you are a new subscriber, you’ll want to check this out.  Birchbox gives you 10 points for every product you receive in your Birchbox and do a review on.  10 points is equal to $1 to spend in the Birchbox shop. So if you get 5 products in your box (which is about average) and do your reviews, you’ve got $5 to spend in the shop! And you now receive an additional 10 points when you “share” your box on Facebook or Twitter every month! You do need to wait until you have at least 100 points (aka $10) to redeem them, but points accumulate and you can stack them with a coupon code and use them on a limited edition box or whatever you want!  To review products all you need to do is this:

~Log into your account and select “Your Box” from the top menu bar and then “This Month’s Box” from the drop-down menu.
~You’ll see all of the items in your box and you will be able to click on each of the items to purchase, rate, etc.
~Click on on “Write A Review” and it will take you to a little questionnaire to complete.  Once you are done with it, click submit and you’ve earned your 10 points!
~Repeat for all of the items in your box!

Now, you can ONLY do reviews for a limited amount of time your box is posted on the 10th of the month.  You have from the 10th of the month to the 9th of the following month to do your reviews and get your points which is plenty of time! The point system is one of the best things about Birchbox in my opinion.  You spend $10 on the box each month and then you get back AT LEAST $6 in points which is amazing Do not miss scoring those points!

Anniversary Codes:  Anniversary codes are another great Birchbox perk that I am guessing not everyone knows about. Birchbox sends out promotion codes (usually between 20% – 30% off) on your “anniversary” with them.  You get a code after being with them for 3-months, 6 months and so on.  Here is a breakdown of all the codes (thanks to MUT):

~3-months: “3months20” (20% off)
~6-months: “6months20” (20% off)
~9-months: “9months20” (20% off)
~13-months: “13months25” (25% off)
~16-months: “sweet16” (25% off)
~21-months: “21andcounting” (21% off)
~2 Years: “2yearlove
~30-months: “dirty30” (30% off)
~34-months: “special34
~40-months: “40strong” (20% off)

Theses codes ONLY work when you have been with Birchbox that long, so if you are trying to use the 40 month code and you’ve only been a subscriber for 15 months, it’s not going to work.  Make sure to take advantage of these though!

If you aren’t a subscriber yet you can use coupon code “JILLIAN” to get 100 extra Birchbox points (which is equal to $10 to spend in the Shop) with any subscription purchase!

I used my 9 month code and points this month to buy the LE Fresh Start along with socks and cleanser for my teenager.

I wonder how they handle it if you cancel – I joined in February last year – cancelled for April but joined back in May – so does it start over with April now?

No I don’t think it starts over Jen H. I just saw your question but I quit for a little while and it didn’t start over for me they added the months I was a member collectively which was great!

Does anyone know if I can use the JILLIAN code for 100 extra points and gift myself a subscription? That way I can get 30 points for the cost of a 3 subscription plus the extra 100.
