February 2015 Birchbox Subscription Review - "Rent the Runway"- It's All in the Details Box
February 2015 Birchbox – “Rent the Runway”

My second Birchbox subscription box arrived over the weekend. I received my other box (I have two subscriptions) last week, which was the “regular” box this month, but this one – The February Guest Editor box, shipped a bit later.

If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox, which is $10/month, offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes and get some complete steals (which I try to do).

The Box

Birchbox ships via Newgistics (it’s delivered by the Post Office) and took just a few days to arrive.   As a general rule Birchbox boxes will ship by the 10th of the month.  I have had boxes ship after the 10th of the month maybe twice and Birchbox has always e-mailed with an apology and added 100 points to my account for the delay.

The Rent the Runway Birchbox

The Rent the Runway box was simple, but had a great floral detail around the edges.  I didn’t receive an information card in my box (no idea what happened to that), but since it was a curated box, I knew exactly was it was supposed to contain.  Here is what it included:

~Fekkai Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo ($10): I love this stuff!  This dry shampoo was one of the main reasons I went for this box.  I am a big fan of dry shampoo and Fekkai makes a great one.  I don’t love the price tag though, so anytime I get a sample of it I am happy.

~Derma e Anti Wrinkle Exfoliating Cleanser ($3.19): This cleanser promises to slough away dead cells and deep clean pores for a younger, more radiant glow. I have only used it once (you are supposed to use it twice a week), but I liked how it made my skin feel – nice and soft.

~Not Soap, Radio Body Wash in The Stuff That Cupid Dips His Arrows In ($3.60): This smells awesome (it smells like berries to me)!  I received their lemon body wash in a box last year and loved that as well.  I should actually use some Birchbox points and get the set they have on Birchbox with all the scents.

~Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner (Raina) ($4.40): Raina is a navy color which isn’t too crazy, but since I don’t wear eyeliner often I will be passing this along to a friend.  I knew this was going to be in the box before I selected it, but I liked everything else in it, so I was okay with getting this.

~theBalm Read My Lips Lip Gloss (Bam) ($4): This is the same balm (same color and all) that I received in my regular box this month as well.  It’s a great color and formula though, so I don’t mind the spare.

All totaled I came up with a value of $25.19 for the February 2015 Birchbox Rent the Runway – It’s All In the Details Birchbox. Including the points I get for purchasing the box (10 points = $1 to spend at Birchbox) and reviewing / sharing the items in the box (60 points = $6), the value increases to $32.19. I am quite happy with this box and feel like the dry shampoo alone was worth it to me!  Everything else – including the Rent the Runway coupon code that came in this box, were just bonus items for me!

Have you gotten your Birchbox yet this month?  What’d you get? If you are interested in subscribing I believe you can still use coupon code “BBSTORE100” to get 100 extra Birchbox points (which is equal to $10 to spend in the Shop) with any subscription purchase.  Also, make sure you check out the fantastic 40% off sale Birchbox has going on right now.

Oh and I almost forgot.  I accidentally ordered the Birchbox Liptastic Kit ($24) as an add-on (I was testing to see if it was live and ending up buying it) so I am going to give it away to one of you!  All you need to do is enter in Rafflecopter below and I will pick a winner next week!  Good luck!

Note: If you want to check out all the boxes this month, go here and change the #1 at the end (instead of “february-2015-bb1”, it’d be “february-2015-bb2”, “february-2015-bb3”, etc.) to anywhere between 2 and 61 since there were 61 different box varieties this month.
