I decided to go for a Mystery Box the last time they were offered by Citrus Lane and it arrived yesterday. I wanted to get a Preschool Boy box, but they were sold out so I opted for the Preschool Girl box. I liked the item(s) they showed with the box and was hoping the rest of the items would work okay for us as well.
If you aren’t familiar, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription box for babies from 0 to 5 years old which contains four or more products selected especially for the age and stage of your child. Citrus Lane is $29/month, but they always have great coupon codes that let you try them out very inexpensively! And every once in a while they also offer Mystery Boxes in their shop. These Mystery Boxes are usually $19 or $29 (the one I purchased was $19) and promise to contain products worth double the cost of the box. Items are typically repeats from their monthly boxes, but they are always a great deal.
Citrus Lane ships via FedEx Smart Post. I don’t believe that I ever received a shipping notification for this one. It just appeared in my FedEx notifications and then on my porch.
Citrus Lane Mystery Boxes don’t contain an information card, but my box had the following items
~Connector Paint Box from Faber-Castell ($14.99) and Watercolor Paper Pad from Faber-Castell (~$4): I love these! They were the reason I went for this box. Both of my boys like to paint, but WB is REALLY into it right now. He wants to paint all the things. This paint is vibrant and the paper is thick enough that the paint doesn’t seep though.
~Crocodile Creek Kids Time Watch ($13.99): Citrus Lane must have a ton of these because they have been in lots of Mystery Boxes! I’ll probably end up swapping this. Even if it was a “boy” watch, I doubt either of my boys were wear it. Every once in a while L will want to wear a watch, but he loses interest in it fairly quickly.
~Janod Toys Dominos ($9.99): We actually own this exact set, but that’s okay. I’ll leave this set at my moms or bring it up-north this summer for rainy days. The cards (dominos) are sturdy and a great size for little hands. You can play using the animals or numbers, which is nice because the game can grow with your little one.
All totaled I came up with a value of $42.97 for the Citrus Lane Mystery Box. For $19 it was a great deal and even though we won’t use the watch, I am happy with it. I hope I am quick enough to grab a preschool boy box next time though!
Mystery Boxes aren’t available right now (I’ll post when they are again though), but Citrus Lane is offering new customers 40% off their first box PLUS a FREE Easter Bunny Basket with the coupon code “BUNNY” at checkout! This offer is only valid through 3.15.15 so take advantage of it while it lasts! It will bring the cost of your first box down to $17.40, plus you’ll get the adorable Easter Bunny Basket!
Are the preschool boy mystery boxes the most popular-or do they only have like 10?! My son just turned 4 and that’s the one we would want and it is always sold out-so frustrating. I usually check my emails early-around 6 or 7 AM and it always seems like the mystery box announcement email shows that it was sent to me around 2 or 3 AM and when I try to buy one just a few hrs later they are already sold out. Who are these people up in the middle of the night buying my box?! Ha ha…. 😛
