The Box

Sunshine Candy ships via USPS Priority Mail.  They ship orders twice per month so depending on when you started your subscription, you will receive your box of candy either at the beginning or in the middle of each month.

The Sunshine Candy Box

I knew Sunshine Candy was a candy box (obviously), but I couldn’t remember what types of candy would be inside, so it really was a surprise.

As soon as I opened it up I remembered. The box was really heavy, so I should have guessed in advance it was some sort of bulk candy.

The Information Card

The March 2015 Sunshine Candy box was their first ever box and includes some of their all-time favorite candies that combine sweet and sour flavors and chewy goodness:

~Lemonheads (7.4oz): You either like Lemonheads or you don’t.  I don’t like them.  They are too sour for me!

~Sour Gummi Peaches (11.7oz): Peach rings are the.best.  We got some in a subscription box a week or two ago and those are long gone.  And I am sure these will be gone soon too.  Oh, I want to mention that on the back of each one of these bags is the weight of the package along with a label listing all of the ingredients and nutritional information.

~Tootsie Rolls (9.5oz): Tootsie Rolls are another favorite around here.  We all love them and the they will be gone quickly too I am sure.  B thought they were kind of hard, but I thought they were just regular Tootsie Rolls.

~Salt Water Taffy (7.5oz): I like salt water taffy, but only certain flavors.  However, if I did a blind taste test, I am certain I wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.  Well, I wouldn’t be able to tell a lot of them apart anyway.

I couldn’t figure out the price of bulk candy online, but when you break down the cost of the box it makes each bag about $7.25. It seems high, however there is a bulk candy place at the mall that we go to every once in a while and I swear we spend more than $7 and leave with a bag much smaller than one of these, so I am not sure?

Is the $30 a month for TWO boxes a month? If so, that would make each box only $15 and I think that might be worth it for some but I think $30 for just one box is high considering the candy isn’t hard to find or all that special.

    1. B

My mistake, I read that wrong! I read shipping twice a month as two boxes per month. Never mind!

  2. Lin

I agree, $30 for that box is too high, especially when the candy isn’t hard to find or anything out of the ordinary.

  3. Angela

I don’t understand why you would need a subscription for this. And pay $30. You can get all of that candy at your local store for under $10.

  4. Beth

Ummm $30 for that is crazy!!

  5. Cristina

I agree with everyone else. $30 for 4 bags of not that great candy is way too much. I’d rather spend my cash on some chocolate 🙂

  6. Carrie B

Wow $30 for inexpensive easy to find candy. That’s ridiculous!

The price point on this subscription – at least this particular box – is ridiculous. All in, all done, this is going to retail for less than $10 at somewhere like Target.

have to agree any store from walmart, to target even walgreens would beat that price point.. while having limited abilities and things that limits my ability to get things independently, all ia have to do is ASK someone to grab something for me or take me…lol no way would i pay 30.00 for a subscription like this, if it was hard to find like old fashioned candies such asi greew up with then ask me..
