Julep Maven April 2015 Subscription Box Review – “The Paradise Collection”

Julep is a monthly nail polish subscription service.  They offer a “My Maven” box for $24.99/month which contains $40+ worth of product and polish or “Maven Luxe” for $39.99/month which contains $60+ of prestige products.  Both boxes are fully customizable and you have the option to switch between tiers.  Subscribers prior to 4/29/14 were grandfathered in at the $19.99/month rate, however, they will need to upgrade to the $24.99 subscription if they want to customize their boxes.

The Box

Julep ships via FedEx Smart Post. They ship out of Ohio so my box takes just a few days to arrive to me, however, it (seemed to) ship a little later than everyone else’s did this month so I am just now getting it.

I opted for 3 add-ons this month – one of which was the Spring Break Polish Mystery Box (which is inside of the pink box above).   It was $19.99 as an add-on and I think it was also offered in the Secret Store this month.  I’ll do a separate review on that one in case you are curious what’s in it.  When you purchase 3 add-ons along with your monthly box Julep sends you a free surprise.  This month I received

The Information Card

The April 2015 Julep box featured “The Paradise Collection”.  I opted for the following three polishes (I opted to fully customize this month’s box):

~Danielle (It Girl) ($11.20 / $14): Danielle is a cerulean wave duochrome.  And it’s gorgeous.  Just gorgeous. It reminds me of being on a beach vacation. I will be putting this on my nails ASAP, so stay tuned for an Instagram picture!

Danielle

~Brigitte (Classic with a Twist) ($11.20 / $14): Brigitte is a bright white crème.  I was really curious to try this one because it was billed as a good base coat for under bright colors.  It’s kind of a mess though.  It’s totally a bright white like promised, but it’s hard to apply.  It’s kind of goopy, buy at the same time not super thick.  I can’t explain it.  I was checking out the reviews and I may need to thin it out to make it work?

~Danica (Boho Glam) ($11.20 / $14): Danica is a blue violet iridescent chrome.  Again, totally reminds me of a beach vacation!

All totaled I came up with a value of $33.60 (or $42 if you are using non-Maven pricing) for the April 2015 Julep The Paradise Collection box.  Not the most valuable box, but I made all of the selections so I knew exactly what I was going to get.  I would be happier if the white polish was a better consistency, but I’ll make it work.

Did you get Julep this month?  What collection did you get?  If you are a new subscriber and want to sign up, you can get a free 4-piece April Birthstone Welcome Box with the coupon code “DIAMOND” The box is a $66 value and includes three gorgeous nail colors and a fan favorite beauty product as a bonus. You’ll pay $2.99 shipping, but for 4 products, that’s a steal!

I don’t know about other people but I always want to see everything you get from julep. The add ons and all. It’s my only subscription box but it’s been on hold for two months so I can do the Allure Beauty Box.
