Doodle Crate May 2015 Subscription Box Review – “Terrarium Landscaping”

Doodle Crate is one of the new(er) lines in the Kiwi Crate family. Designed for girls ages 9-16, Doodle Crate includes all the materials and inspiration for DIY projects such as patterned pouches, friendship bracelets, or colorful candles. Crates encourage girls to tackle new challenges and gain creative confidence!

The Box

Doodle Crate ships via FedEx Smart Post and took just about a week to arrive to me.

First Look

I have been getting a little behind on my Kiwi Crate / Doodle Crate / Koala Crate reviews, but as soon as I opened this box up I wanted to do it immediately. And not just because the box recommended to do it soon because of the plants inside. I was just really excited about this.

The Theme

The May 2015 Doodle Crate theme was Terrarium Landscaping and involved the techniques “Landscaping” and “Sculpting”.  Here is what was included:

~Creating the Foundation: Doodle Crate included everything needed to complete the terrarium and all I really needed to do was assemble it.  It didn’t require much (any) skill at all.  All you had to do was follow the directions.  First you spread out the rocks in the bottom of the container and added the magic soil pellet.  Have you ever used one of those?  Maybe the coolest dirt ever.  You just add water to it and it spreads up like crazy.  After you even out the dirt you add your moss and then your plants and decorative rocks and you are done. Super cool right?  And you only need to water it with two sprays of water once a week.  Umm, this is totally my kind of plant.  I so can handle this.

~Make a Mini Snail / JellyFish: The box also included clay to sculpt a snail and a jellyfish.  I wasn’t too huge on the last sculpting project that Doodle Crate did, but these were super easy.  They provided detailed instructions that you really couldn’t screw up.

I think it’s possible this was my favorite Doodle Crate ever.  Heck, it might even be my favorite box from any of the Kiwi Crate family of brands boxes to date.  I just loved everything about it.  It was simple and the results were amazing.  I have it in my office right now and I love looking at it.

All Done
