Julep is a monthly nail polish subscription service. They offer a “My Maven” box for $24.99/month which contains $40+ worth of product and polish or “Maven Luxe” for $39.99/month which contains $60+ of prestige products. Both boxes are fully customizable and you have the option to switch between tiers. Subscribers prior to 4/29/14 were grandfathered in at the $19.99/month rate, however, they will need to upgrade to the $24.99 subscription if they want to customize their boxes. I finally decided to upgrade to the $24.99 subscription a few months ago so I am now able to customize my box.
Julep ships via FedEx Smart Post. My May box actually arrived before the end of April, but I have been a little behind in getting this post up.
I have been taking advantage of Julep‘s Add-On’s in my monthly Maven boxes lately. If you get three add-ons along with your Maven box they will send you a surprise bonus gift!
The May 2015 Julep box featured “The Set Sail” Collection. I opted for the following:
~Lee – It Girl ($11.20 /$14): Lee is a spitfire red crème and is stunning. It’s more of an orange-red than a blue-red and i love it. The formula on this one is great – not gloopy (is that a word) but would still take me two coats.
~Becca – Boho Glam ($11.20 / $14): Becca is a “viridian tide shimmer” which means pretty much nothing to me. Basically it’s a gorgeous mermaid green color.
~Denise – Bombshell ($11.20 / $14): Denise is a purple crocus crème. It’s not just purple though. It’s the brightest, most summery purple ever. You’d get a ton of compliments on this when you wore it!
These are the add-ons I opted for this month:
~Spencer – It Girl ($11.20 / $14): Spencer is a vintage gold chrome. I have a different shade of Julep gold on my nails right now and I have to tell you, I have a thing for Julep’s gold polishes. They are so pretty!
~Amanda – Classic With A Twist ($11.20 / $14): Amanda is a pink dahlia crème. Basically it’s hot pink! When in doubt, I go with hot pink nails and toes. You can’t go wrong with that in the summer.
~Carolyn – Boho Glam ($11.20 / $14): Carolyn is a melon fusion crème. With two coats or so the coverage is great and looks awesome it the gold polish in this collection.
~Bonus Gift: Julep Double Step ($7.99): My bonus gift for taking three add-ons this month was the Julep DoubleStep. I actually love this stuff and have bought it on my own a few times. I do have trouble with the stick (it’s like a solid lotion) falling out of the container, but that might just be user error.
All totaled I came up with a value of $75.19 for my May 2015 Julep Maven selections. I paid $24.99 for my box (with the first 3 polishes in it) and then $18 for my add on polishes (3 @ $5.99 each), so all totaled I paid $42.99 and that’s using Maven pricing. I loved the colors in this collection and I kind of hoping I don’t love the June collection quite as much because I don’t “need” more polish!

I love the gold chrome color! It’s gorgeous, I’m wearing it right now. I’ve always had a thing for gold nail polish! I got a purple this month too but I believe the one I’ve got has blue speckles in it, it’s really pretty.
