Today I’m Smiling Because…
~This weekend is going to be gorgeous. It’s one of the last weekends B will be home until basically July, so we plan to take full advantage!
~I pulled winners for all the giveaways that have recently ended! Here they are: Lilly for Target Mugs – “Ann Marie Riley”, Birchbox Lovely Day – “Lanie Van der Horst” and April Little Lace Box – “Deanna Magoun”. Congrats ladies! You should have an e-mail in your inboxes from me!
~Today is both The Kentucky Derby and the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight. That’s a huge day in sports right there. As a side note, has anyone been to the Kentucky Derby? How was it?
~Our final car payment on one of our cars was in April! We totally thought it was going to be done in October (since we originally bought the car in October), but nope, April was the last month. What a great surprise!
~While it’s not finished, the Lilly pillow project is still happening!!!! The top is the actual Lilly for Target pillow. The bottom is the one(s) we are making (well these and some bolster ones).
~L has been taking his time with his writing and it’s totally showing. He dislikes handwriting so he used to hurry through it, but he’s really been working on slowing down lately. Go L!!!!
~I got some fabulous news from a friend the other day so I am totally smiling for her right now.
~I finally got my computer and my phone updated. Still can’t figure out some of those passwords (like the blog one) until I get on my desktop, but everything is much speedier now.
I live in Lexington Ky and have never been to the Derby. Lexington has Keeneland race track that meets in the Spring and Fall and is a pretty big deal (in Ky) I’m not saying it’s on the same scale as the Derby, just throwing it out there. But it is a pretty exciting time in Kentucky
Wow!!!!! Those pillows look top notch professional!
Congrats on paying off the car! Enjoy the lovely weather with B and the boys. My husband is traveling a lot too for the next few months. I had no idea that the hammock was that large.
Awesome pillows ladies..u rock
I had pedal pushers and a midriff top similar to those pillows…pom poms and all!!!
it would be awesome if you did a diy post on how to maked these pillows 🙂
Oh you totally don’t want a sewing tutorial from my mom and I! LOL! Plus they aren’t even done yet! We used this to get the general idea:
http://gabrielsgoodtidings.blogspot.com/2012/02/tutorial-how-to-make-pillow-with-pom.html
I haven’t done any sewing before so it seems so hard. I want to do the Lilly fabric on the front and a matching pink or green soils print on the back. If I ever get started I’ll send you a picture 🙂
My mom said the hardest part was getting the pom-poms attached correctly! And setting up the sewing machine of course. What lilly fabric are you going to use?
the same as you 🙂 I just bought the hammock and like the idea of using the case. I thought maybe doing the back of the pillows a solid color will give me more fabric, but I don’t know how to sew so I’ll have to do some research. I need to see if the fabric is water proof and if not how easy it is to make it water proof? i think it would look great on the lawn chairs by the hammock
Holy carp! I never win anything!! Thanks so much, Jen! I stayed up all night and got nothing from the Lilly/Target debacle, and these mugs were the one (out of 13 that I marked, lol) that I wanted more than ANYTHING!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!
Love your pillows. Dare I say I’ve owned a sewing machine for lets say about 10 years and I have never taken it out of the box. LOL
