Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for women. With Stitch Fix, you provide your style, size, and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. There is a $20 styling fee that is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces. If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. And if you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything! Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix. You have a few days to try everything on and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid USPS return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in.
My May 2015 Stitch Fix shipped via USPS out of Indiana.
You never know what Stitch Fix is going to send. I mean, you enter your preferences so if you said you hated skirts, they aren’t sending skirts, but they have such a wide variety of prints and styles they send out.
Each Stitch Fix comes with an information card which includes a listing of everything in the box, prices, and then a total of how much everything would be if you kept it all (it deducts your $20 styling fee and the 25% discount for keeping all of your items). Just to give you an idea, my box had a merchandise total of $376 and had I kept everything, I would have had to pay $267 (plus my $20 styling fee and that is taking into account the 25% discount you get for buying all of the pieces). Here are the pieces I received:
~Moda Luxe Brooks Crossbody Bag ($58): I don’t know if it’s the exact same bag or not, but there is a Moda Luxe bag on Target.com that looks just like this for $39.99. While I love the color of this bag and the leather is fabulous, I’ve never been a fan of the crossbody style. And if I was I would just snag the Target one for less. Verdict: Returned.
~Loveappella Katella Sporty Knit Top ($58): I believe this is the first athletic type shirt I have received from Stitch Fix. It’s long (which I love) and stretchy and I like the color a lot. Verdict: Kept
~Moon Collection Bailee Cowl Neck Knit Poncho ($58): I’ve never worn a poncho, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it. It’s super soft and I like the color, but I don’t really have a need for a poncho at this time of the year. At least I hope I don’t need it this summer. 😉 Verdict: Returned.
~DL1961 Hillary Skinny Jean ($164): Happily I don’t really like these because I don’t want to pay $164 for jeans right now. On the right person I suspect these would be fabulous. On me? Nope. Skinny jeans do me NO favors unless worn with boots (and even then they really don’t) and it’s not boot season right now. And I don’t love those zippers. Verdict: Returned.
~Fun2Fun Sonoma Striped Sleeveless Top ($38): I really like this. The material is thin – almost sheer, but it’s not see-through. I think one of the main reasons I love it is because it’s Detroit Tigers colors! Verdict: Kept
I ended up keeping two items from this month’s Fix which is pretty good. I always want to (sort of) keep them all so I can get that 25% off discount, but then again it’s best that I don’t! I wonder if Stitch Fix has ever toyed with the idea of a tiered discount? Like 20% off if you keep 3 pieces, 25% off if you keep 4 and 30% off if you keep 5. That would be amazing!
