Julep is a monthly nail polish subscription service.  They offer a “My Maven” box for $24.99/month which contains $40+ worth of product and polish or “Maven Luxe” for $39.99/month which contains $60+ of prestige products.  Both boxes are fully customizable and you have the option to switch between tiers.  Subscribers prior to 4/29/14 were grandfathered in at the $19.99/month rate, however, they will need to upgrade to the $24.99 subscription if they want to customize their boxes.  I finally decided to upgrade to the $24.99 subscription a few months ago so I am now able to customize my box.

The Box

Julep ships via FedEx Smart Post and took under a week to arrive to me.  I actually received this box last week sometime.

First Look

Just like the past few months I have been tempted with the add-ons and ended up ordering three of them.  If you order three add-ons along with your monthly box Julep will send you a free gift!  I opted for the sea salt spray (that stuff is the best), Cannonball Mystery Polish, Swan Dive Mystery Polish and then my free gift was an additional polish.  I don’t know which polish is the Cannonball vs. the Swan Dive vs. the bonus gift, but it doesn’t matter.

The Information Card (love the Lilly quote)

The June 2015 Julep box features “The Deep End” collection.  I opted for a custom box with the following items:

~Ming – It Girl ($11.20 / $14): Ming is a sheer wild orchid jelly.  I selected only jelly polishes this month actually.  They look beautiful alone or on top of another polish.

~Tiffany – Bombshell ($11.20 / $14): Tiffany is described as a “pink radish jelly”.  I really think it’s more red than pink though. It’s pretty much perfect.  Two coats of this was enough when I tested it and it still gave me that jelly look while not showing my nails underneath.

~Lori – Classic With A Twist ($11.20 /$14): Lori is a “pressed marionberry jelly”. I personally would call it a raspberry color. Again, the jelly finish is gorgeous and I thought that two coats was plenty.

All totaled I came up with a value of $33.60 for the June 2015 Julep Maven box!  That’s using Maven (i.e. subscriber) pricing.  Had I used non-Maven prices it would have totaled $42!  I am loving these polishes and highly recommend the jelly finish.
