First Look

As usual with Olfactif the packaging was gorgeous.  I keep trying to figure out a way to repurpose the fancy black boxes they ship in, but so far I am coming up blank.  Any ideas?

The Information Card

The July 2015 Olfactif theme was “The Sun, The Moon, The Stars” and included the following items:

~Fils de Dieu – Etat Libre d’Orange: This is “the warmth of the sun”. It has notes of ginger, coriander leaves, lime, shiso, coconut, rice, cardamon, jasmine, cinnamon, May rose, tonk a bean, vetiver, musk, amber, leather and castoreum.  My first thought was that it smelled like cleaning products.  It smelled way better after it dried down, but it still wasn’t for me.  I don’t know what exactly it was that I didn’t like, but I just kept thinking that it was “too much”.

~Me, Myself & I – Ego Facto: This is “the glow of the moon”. It has notes of hemlock flower, basil, tuberose, lavender, vetiver root and guaiacwood.  I could really pick out the vetiver and thought this one was quite unique. Not an everyday scent for me, but it’d be a fun special occasion one. The longer I had this on, the more I liked it.

~Romantina – Juliette Has A Gun: This one is “the twinkle of the stars”.  It has notes of orange blossom, jasmine, rose, iris, osmanthus, patchouli, musk and vanilla.  I could have done with a little less patchouli in this one, but overall I liked it.  It was another one that grew on me the longer I had it on.

If you are a fragrance junkie or are still looking to experiment with some new scents you won’t find at your local department store, I recommend checking Olfactif out.  You may not love everything you receive, but that’s okay. It’s way better to try it in this format and use your $18 credit on something you know you love instead of buying a large bottle only to find out it’s not for you!
