Hamptons Lane curates an amazing monthly box of artisan foods, kitchen tools, and serveware for the food lover. Boxes are $47/month and are revealed at the beginning of every month. Boxes are created around a monthly theme, such as Southwestern Fiesta, Summer Cocktail, The Best of BBQ, Coastal Italy, etc. Unlike most subscription boxes, you can skip the box if it doesn’t interest you during the first five days of that month.
Hamptons Lane generally ships in the second half of the month. I receive mine a little earlier for review purposes.
The packaging on this one was great! Glass bottles always worry me, but these were well protected in the box.
The August 2015 Hamptons Lane theme was “Fresh Grill”. The information card include recipes, product information and tips on selecting the perfect cuts of meat. The box included the following items:
~Trio of Maple, Cedar, & Hickory Grill Planks by Hamptons Lane ($15): The box included three different grill planks. Maple is the sweetest smoke of the three and is good for pork, poultry and seafood. Cedar will add a smokey edge to your meats and is great for pork, poultry, beef and fish (especially salmon). And finally, Hickory is idea for adding a “savory smoke” to your beef, lamb, bacon, portobello mushrooms and dark fruits.
~Set of FireWire Bendable Grilling Skewers by Smith Products ($15): B does all the grilling around here, but even I can see why bendable skewers would be better than traditional ones. They give you more options for marinating and grilling and, according to the information booklet, will cut your prep time in half.
~Carolina BBQ Sauce by Lillie’s Q ($8): I am actually a tad sad that this arrived today and not yesterday. B made ribs and brisket yesterday and I think this would have been a great safe for them. It’s tangy, but not hot and works well with just about any beef, pork or poultry.
~Tom Douglas Rub with Love Salmon Rub ($6.50): This is described as a griller’s best friend. It’s a combination of paprika, thyme and brown sugar and really can work on other seafoods or even pork or chicken. My parents eat a lot of salmon, so I am going to hand this over to my mom and see what she thinks.
~Argentinian Chimichurri Sauce by Elvio’s Chimichurri ($17.50): This also arrived in the July Mantry box and I have heard a lot of great things about it. Sadly we haven’t gotten a chance to use it, but at least now we will have more when we fall in love with it. Hamptons Lane included recipes using it on an Argentine Style Shrimp Caesar Salad and on a Chimichurri Potato Salad – both of which sound amazing!
All totaled I came up with a value of $62 for the August 2015 Hamptons Lane box. Everything in here was very useful and great for summer grilling. This may be one of my favorite themes from them!
