I will admit I peeked at spoilers for this one earlier today. I was so excited to get this box and couldn’t resist.
The August 2015 Little Lace Box theme was “Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy” and included the following amazing and delightful treasures from all over the world for you and your home:
~The Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy Flower Vase from Mary Rose Young (~$94.07): LLB valued this vase at $124 on the information card which includes shipping from the UK. I don’t ever include shipping in my calculations so I used the price from similar vases made by this artist and then applied the exchange rate. I do this think vase is gorgeous and appreciate that it is hand crafted, but I was very surprised that it was so expensive. It’s fairly small (it’s slightly larger than a can of soda) so it’s really more of a bud vase. You for sure aren’t getting an entire bouquet of flowers in here.
~TheBouqs.com Flowers ($40): I love the Bouqs and think flowers is an ideal item for this theme. LLB wanted to send subscribers flowers from The Bouqs to arrive on the same day as their monthly boxes, but couldn’t because of their Privacy Policy (they can’t give out subscribers information to 3rd parties). It’s probably better that we get to select our own Bouq anyway though so we can pick our favorite flowers and a perfect delivery date.
~DEFINEME by Jennifer McKay Newton (Clara) ($36): Clara has notes of lilac, violet, hibiscus, lily & musk. The fragrances are inspired by a new generation of women who are breaking molds and crushing barrier – just like Elizabeth Bennet did in her era. Clara “attracts abundance by being grateful for the good in her life.” It’s a gorgeous scent and I think the florals and musk are an amazing combination. They do a great job of balancing each other out.
~“My Shea-Rona” Shea Butter by Little Lace Box (Lollabambooza) ($19.99): The shea butter represents the “smoothing over” that Mr. Darcy had to do when he let his pride get in the way of his relationship with Elizabeth. I love reading the LLB information cards because I’ll look at a tub of lotion and think how in the world does this relate to this theme? And then I read the card and it all comes together. I can’t figure out exactly what this smells like, but I am getting some citrus and florals from it. It’s thick and fabulous and I cannot wait to put in my feet before bed tonight!
All totaled I came up with a value of $190.06 for the August 2015 Little Lace Box. My feelings on this one are mixed. On one hand I like and will easily use everything in here, but on the other hand I wish they would have included a larger (less expensive) vase plus maybe another item. Still, the value was fantastic and I am already excited for the October box! Speaking of the October box, the theme is “Authentic Autumn – Be Your Authentic Self” and will feature a box full of wonderful items that will allow you to get creative and show your authentic self.
What did you think of this month’s Little Lace Box? If you are interested in ordering you can head on over to their site and select the one-box option for $59.99 (does not renew without your permission). Or you can get a 3 or 6 box subscription and use the coupon code “RAMBLIN10” to save $10 off your first month!
I also just received my box and it included July Serendipity as well. I like the vase but your right it is teeny. Im probably going to use it as more of an decorative piece than a vase. It is much prettier than the one popsugar sent out over the summer. I received Audrey perfume and coconut mango mimosa body butter. I like both variations.
I can’t wait to get mine tomorrow. I really love everything. I never get sent flowers do it will be a nice treat for me and I love that vase. I know it’s small but that okay. I will use everything in this box which I am really happy about. I too wish we had a another item or two but overall I am thrilled.
I got the same variations of the lotion and perfume as you Jennifer.
What did you think the lotion smelled like???
The vase is quite pricey. I go to dozens of art/craft shows as well as stores and galleries, and you can get a better piece made in the U.S. for a lot less.
Oops, wrong place.
To me, it smells almost exactly like Yankee Candle Tulip scent. (Do they even still make that variety anymore? I haven’t been in a Yankee Candle store in close to a decade–instant headache.) I got lollabambooza for my scrub back in June too, so I’m working on the complete set. Wonder if we’ll get a soap or something in October.
I got the body scrub in lollabambooza and I can’t figure out the scent either. I mean, it smells good but what is it???? I agree with the citrus and floral notes. Beyond that, I have no idea.
I got the same scented lotion I can’t quite put my finger on the scent but it does kind of remind me of freshly cut grass. Remember that Gap body spray?
I’m excited for the flower delivery and the perfume.
I really do not vases like this one or the one popsugar gave this summer. I prefer clear glass or crystal .
What a delightful surprise to come home from a looooooong day at the water park to my LLB box!!! That cream went right on my super dried out skin!!! I think this box was so very thoughtful and fun. I love the perfume i wish it was super sized. Haha. The fall box sounds like it will be awesome! And the tea diffuser!! Yezzzzz. Perfect. Very nice.
I am so sad. I got the Audry perfume, and I can’t wear it, as it is too floral and triggers migraines. If anyone gets Harper and wants to trade, let me know! (It is lovely, with a rose scent, but my head won’t allow it.)
Sigh, I have to say this box is a letdown for me. Vase is meh, flowers ok, perfume is something I already have too much of due to sub boxes, and really really don’t care for their homemade body products at all. Sorry that LLB is going to be crossed off my list soon.
If you get the Harper or Peyton perfume and want to trade, (since you have too much anyway), will you let me know?
I ended up with Sophia Isabel – sorry!
Thank you SO MUCH though!!
. I don’t think most of the items fit the theme at all. Neither the vase nor the perfume take me back to that time period. I don’t understand why the body butter is included at all, apart from to promote their brand. For a box that was hyped up to be the largest valued box, it really is a let down. I appreciate the flowers, but again, seems more like a random box of items. If I were sent this box without being told the theme, I wouldn’t connect it to the 18th/19th century, let alone to P&P.
Yeah, I felt like they worked reaaaally hard to fit some of these items into the theme. I do like them though. The design of the vase isn’t my style, but I’ve been wanting a bud vase, so I’ll make it work. I love the perfume (I got Payton). Like you, I have enough perfume to last me a decade, but I’ve never been able to commit to a signature scent, so I like having a bunch to choose from 😉 I’m ridiculously excited about the flowers, like little girl who just got a pony for her birthday excited. Even the lotion–which is the biggest shoehorn and definitely brand promotion as you say–will be put to happy use. And it matches my scrub! So overall, I’m quite happy with the box, despite it not conjuring up P&P for me. Of course, I didn’t have a whole lot of faith that anyone could pull off a spot-on P&P-themed box, so I think my expectations were managed on this one.
Well I didn’t love this box either. I enjoyed seeing the perfume (I got Audrey) I just wish it was a larger size. I’m going to stick LLB until after the next box (the theme has me intrigued) but after that I can’t make any promises.
I did not receive the July serendepity. I got the May one. What did you get for it?
I got mine today and I totally loved it!!! I got the peachy lotion although not my top choice it smells amazing and isn’t greesy. Love the case and flowers! Can’t wait to pick my bouquet! I might be extra emotional from rough few months but this just made my week! I do wish the serendipity would be mailed separate like before. Still very happy with this.
I am a horrible speller!
I agree, I felt like it was missing something as well. I was hoping for a vintage hairpiece or necklace. I love the the perfume, i received Audrey. If the perfume would have been full sized or the flowers arrived the same day it would have pulled the box together.
I think that is the full-size of the perfume!
I have to say, I was so so disappointed with this box. Which is interesting because I even loved the shampoo/water bottle box. Maybe it’s because it was hyped as being their highest value box yet? But, honestly, the only thing I really liked was the flowers, and I even felt meh over that.
I ended up giving pretty much the entire box away to my co-workers. I am super picky about perfume — there aren’t many I can stand smelling all day. The vase was ok I suppose but my co-workers and I had a good laugh about the alleged price. I actually just bought a similar hand-thrown vase in San Francisco in the spring for about $50. Anyway, the blue is the same color as my firm’s logo so we put the vase in the reception area. And my excitement just fell when I saw the body butter. I felt like it was just something they could include cheaply to promote their brand. I didn’t have a problem with the body scrub (I even like it and might order more) but isn’t it a little much to keep sending us your in house brand of stuff? I hope they send the flower code soon — maybe that will lift my spirits.
I loved the box as i could use and will use everything in it. I got the Sofia Isabel perfum and peachy lotion, bothe smell amazing. I was expecting more in the box as this was supposed to be the biggest, but i was surPrised at the value of the vase. The vase will make for a nice conversation piece in my home.
This was my most disappointing LLB ever. $124 for that vase? Really? I just didn’t see it. My mother was an artist, and a potter, so I do own a lot of handmade items; this didn’t do it for me at all. I was happy to get the shea butter, until I saw the scent; the only one I didn’t like (mango with coconut. Ew. Not one, but two scents I dislike!) I would love to trade that with someone for the Oatmeal, Milk & Honey, or the Lollabambooza (that’s what my scrub was in). I loved the description of the Harper perfume,”notes of grapefruit, bergamot, honeysuckle & amber,” but hated it on. And boy, did it have lasting power. I even tried rubbing alcohol to get it off, but nope, it lasted for hours. It somehow reminded me of “Angel” a perfume that makes me almost physically ill. The flowers will be nice. I’m sure someone’s birthday is coming up and I can order them for her. This just made me sad.
I got the Audry perfume. Would you be willing to trade?
I feel like the theme had so much potential, but it ended up being a let down for me. I really love the design of the vase, but it’s quite small and, in my honest opinion, overpriced. I’m really pumped about the flowers; they will be a nice upgrade from my weekly Trader Joe’s flowers. I really liked the perfume (Sofia Isabel) until it gave me a horrible allergic reaction and I had a hard time washing it off in the shower (1st time I’ve ever had a reaction to a perfume) — will be giving to my mom. I found the sent of the lotion (Lollabamooza) to be too overwhelming for me, so I’ll be giving this away as well.
I think I’d been much happier with a bigger (or cheaper) vase plus an additional item…especially since I can’t use the lotion or perfume. I really hope next box is better (and contains no fragrances). The theme sounds promising.
I loved my box. I can so see this sweet vase with some flowers on my nightstand. The perfume smelled good and it’s dainty size made me think it would probably be similar to something from that time period. I’m always excited to see what the LLB ladies have put together. I think this one was very sweet!
I haven’t received my box yet, but I know I will get all this, plus the serendipity which has tea,a tea infuser and soap (all items I love and I think the tea fits the theme properly) and I am still locked into the 39.99 price point. I am happy! I like vases and flowers and love niche perfumes so this box is win for me. I am not keen on their bath products and I did not like the scent of the scrub last box, but I will give this a shot. All in all, for the price, I am really happy with this box! Plus, I have points to use in their store and I think I am up to $20 and still need to use my print canvas so I think LLB is the gift that keeps on giving 😉
Did everyone get a body butter that matched the scrub they got in the June box? I really didn’t like the scent I got in June and I’m going to be so annoyed if I get it again!
No, I got two different scents so hopefully you will like your body butter scent! I had the opposite of you, though. I liked the scrub scent but not the body butter scent. Oh, well.
I loved this month’s box — I saw others on the net didn’t really like it, but I as thrilled with every single thing in the box, especially for the price point! Can’t wait to get my flowers, hoping I get my code soon.
If anyone would like to buy the box for cost + shipping, please email me at subboxreview@gmail.com
I really like reading through a post that can make men and women think.
Also, thank you for permitting me to comment!
