The Box

MyIrelandBox ships from Ireland and, in general, takes about a week to arrive. I am always impressed with their speedy delivery time.

First Look

The first look revealed – well, basically nothing!  I had no idea what the box would include.  I did recall from reading the information sheets last month that the box would include an exclusive textile item though.

The Information Sheets

The August 2015 MyIrelandBox was sheep themed and included the following items:

~Jennifer Slattery Textiles “Vintage Charm” Napkins (~$27): I actually thought these were placemats when I unwrapped them, but they are actually napkins.  We don’t use cloth napkins (or placemats for that matter), but these would be cute to line a bread basket with.  They are 100% cotton and are very heavy – which is why I thought they were placemats.  Products are imagines, designed and made and Ireland.

~Jane Hayden Pencil Case ($14.15): Yep, you guessed it, I love this.  I have a thing for office supplies and office supply storage so a cute little pencil case works for me.  All products are handmade and screen printed in Ireland using original artwork from the designer.

~June McIntyre Postcard: We got a postcard last month as well so it’s possible one is included in every box.  I think I said it last month too, but these would make gorgeous framed prints.

All totaled I came up with an estimated value of $41.15 for the August 2015 MyIrelandBox.  Remember though, my calculations don’t include shipping which can be substantial since all of these products would have to be shipped from overseas.  While I enjoyed this month’s box I didn’t like it as much as last month’s sheep / tea towel box!

I love the postcard. You’re right, it would make an excellent framed photo! I also love the idea of the napkins being used as a bread basket liner. Perfect from some of the upcoming holidays! 🙂

Is this the Large or the mini box?
    They have two sizes.

They do? I don’t see anything on that on their site?

I saw their mention on Facebook in a reply that they have two boxes, but like you, I see no mention of this on the actual website. My opinion of them is sinking. Fast.

Update: I pulled out my receipt for the box, and I paid $55.50 so I sure didn’t pay for the mini version. I just wrote them, and I hope it was an honest mistake that can be corrected. I’d really love the napkins, and I cringe at the idea that I paid that much for a $15 pouch.

Let me know what happens when you e-mail them! They are typically pretty responsive! The owner has littles ones and is super friendly.

I heard from Katharine this morning, and it was an oopsie as I was supposed to get the napkins. She’s sending them off to me today so all is good. I’m so impressed I’ll probably subscribe.

This was my first and last MIB. On the positive front, I loved the zip pouch and ordered another through the maker’s Etsy store. On the negative, the postcard was damaged, and rather than napkins, I got a lone placemat. Napkins I could have used, a placemat all by itself, not so much. It ended up being prohibitively expensive when what amounts to 2/3 of the box can’t be used.
