Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for women. With Stitch Fix, you provide your style, size (they also now do maternity fixes), and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. You only pay for the items you love and decide to keep. There is a $20 styling fee which is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces.  If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. If you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything!  Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix.  You have a few days to try everything on and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid USPS return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in.

The Box

My September 2015 Stitch Fix shipped via USPS out of Indiana and took just a few days to arrive.  It always used to ship from San Francisco, but it now ships from one of their warehouse facilities.

Unboxed

This month’s first look was much darker than my normal ones.  Stitch Fix seems to send me lots of pattern and bright colors, but this month was mainly darker colors.  Fall is coming soon so I didn’t think that was a bad thing!

The Information Card

Each Stitch Fix comes with an information card which includes a listing of everything in the box, prices, and then a total of how much everything would be if you kept it all (it deducts your $20 styling fee and the 25% discount for keeping all of your items).  Just to give you an idea, my box had a merchandise total of $300.  If you keep one or two items it’s the price listed minus your $20 styling fee.  If you keep everything, you take 25% off the total and then deduct the $20 styling fee. Here are the pieces I received:

~Dear John Marson Wide Leg Denim Trouser ($78): Are wide leg trousers back in?  Because, if so, that doesn’t make me sad at all.  This cut is much more flattering on me than say, skinny jeans are.  I don’t dig the waistband of these (they seem kind of maternity’ish), but it’s not like anyone would see that so it’s not a huge deal.  Verdict: Kept.

~Market & Spruce Alan French Terry Asymmetrical Zip Cardigan ($68): I love this. It’s soft and cozy, but stylish at the same time. You could wear it as part of an outfit or grab it as a light jacket.  The fit is meant to be a little loose and now I just need the weather to turn chilly again so I can wear this. Verdict: Kept.

~Laila Jayde Placer Knit Poncho ($58): I didn’t expect to like this as much as I do!  I am usually not huge on ponchos, but the smaller armholes in this one make it more sweater like.  I also like the wide cowl neckline.  Verdict: Kept.

~Skies are Blue Avena Sleeveless Split Neck Top ($44): I know plaid is totally “in” for fall, but this isn’t for me.  The cut isn’t flattering on me at all and it just didn’t look right.  Verdict: Returned.

~41Hawthorn Lisbon Stud Detail Blouse ($58): I love the color on this one and the stud detail is great, but I really just don’t have anywhere to wear this one.  If I worked I would probably keep this one. Verdict: Returned.

I LOVED my Stitch Fix this month! I was planning on keeping 3 out of the 5 items which is a total of $184. However, if I opt to keep all 5 items it’s only $209.50 because of the 25% discount.  So for that difference I think I am going to just keep them all!  I will figure out a place to wear the blue shirt and I will pass the plaid one along to a friend.  My SIL gets Stitch Fix and I am going to talk her into taking some pictures of hers from her next shipment! She’s a much better sport than I am about that kind of thing than I am!

Do you get Stitch Fix?  What have been your favorite items you’ve received?  If you haven’t checked out Stitch Fix but want to give it a try, click here.  And don’t forget, the better feedback and more information you give, the better chance you will have to get amazing Fixes that work for you!

I’m glad you decided to keep that blue shirt. I love it! You can totally pair it with jeans for a date night.

I got the Market and Spruce cardigan forever ago and I’ve worn it ALL THE TIME. I generally don’t wear it zipped as it’s pretty fitted on me, but it’s great for work, casual and travel. I wish I had another color!

  3. Amy

I have had one shipment if Stitch Fix and although I loved everything they sent, I only kept one dress which I LOVE!!! Can’t wait to see what comes next!

  4. Danielle

I did hear that wide legged and flare jeans are coming back in style (which also makes me happy)!

How does the ponco fit? Does the neckline drape down like a traditional cowl? Thanks for your reviews.
