Birchbox
Cost: $10/month
Ships To: United States. However France, Spain and the UK also have their own Birchbox subscriptions.
Coupon Code: Subscription Box: “SUBSCRIBENOW50” to get 50 extra Birchbox Shop points with your subscription. Shop: Try “welcomeoffer20” for 20% off your shop purchase. And don’t forget to add a Mystery Sample Pack to your cart with your $35+ shop purchase!
Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes to get some complete steals (which I try to do). I have been subscribing to Birchbox for over 3 years now and would say they are one of the best known subscription boxes out there.
Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month. I got an add-on with this month (the tote box) so everything shipped in a larger box.
As I mention every month, I have two Birchbox accounts so I opt for that month’s curated box on one account (you can check out that review here) and opt for the standard Birchbox on the other account. This review is on the September 2015 standard box.
Birchbox officially posts your box to your account on the 10th of the month or you can check this link to see if it happens to be up sooner (although it *might* change if you peek before the 10th). There have been times I have gotten my Birchbox before the sneak peeks were up, but I knew what to expect this month.
The September 2015 Birchbox theme was “You’re Pretty” and included the following items:
~amika The Shield Style Extending Spray (.75oz) ($7.50): I’m obsessed with amika products! This smells good, protects against frizz, pollution, UV rays, heat, etc. It also is safe for color treated hair which is a huge bonus.
~Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow in Medium / Deep (1g) ($8): You’d think with all these brow products I have been getting lately that my brows would look amazing. They don’t. LOL. But this seems like a good product / tool to ease into brow styling. It’s easy to use and fairly subtle.
~dr. brandt pores no more cleanser (.25fl.oz) ($2.50): dr. brandt is another favorite line of mine. I have used this cleanser in the past and have been quite happy with it. It does what it’s supposed to and does it well. I will throw this in my travel bag for sure.
~Harvey Prince Eau So Divine (.05fl.oz) ($1.62): So, while I like Harvey Prince and like the majority of their scents, I am getting a little tired of seeing them all over subscription boxes. Anyway, this is a nice blend light blend of lemon, lilly, jasmine and vanilla and really is pretty.
~POP Beauty POP Portfolio Eyeshadow – Sugar Plum (3 shades) ($7.20): I had originally hoped not to get this in my box, but once I opened it and saw these pretty colors, my mind was changed!
All totaled I came up with a value of $26.48 for my September 2015 “You’re Beautiful” Birchbox. Including the points I get for purchasing the box (10 points = $1 to spend at Birchbox) and reviewing / sharing the items in the box (60 points = $6), the value increases to $33.48.
Have you gotten your Birchbox yet this month? What’d you think? If you are interested in subscribing new customers can use one of the following coupon codes to get signed up:
~”BBMAG” to get a free annual subscription to Glamour magazine.
~”5BOX” to get your first Birchbox for just $5.
~”MAKEGWS” to get a free MAKE Cream Luminious Lip Gloss in Dragon Fruit in your first box.
You got a great box! Too funny what you said about all the brow products being in subs lately, I agree with that. But, with that being said, Benefit’s gimme Brow is one of my FAVORITE brow products (I purchased the full size which says a lot since I have so many subs). When I’m lazy and don’t feel like using powder and wax on my brows, I just just a little gimme brow and it helps fill them in and keep them in place!
I laughed at your comment about throwing the cleanser in your travel bag….not because of you, but because of me. I have enough stuff in my travel bag to take me on an around the world cruise…twice!
LOL!!! I have the same issue!
I’m getting all the same products! Your review is making me more excited to get it! Should arrive today or tomorrow….hopefully today 🙂
Jennifer! I am a Birchbox subscriber in Hawaii and the last two months my account DID NOT UPDATE with my samples and my box didn’t ship out until I e-mailed them on the 15th or 16th–my September samples are still not showing up in my account. They said they are having issues with “non-continental US” shipping? SO I feel obligated to tell you and update you on Birchbox happenings just because of who you are. Also, I feel like you are the only person who would be sympathetic to the agony of checking your account every day with no updates! 🙂 🙂
Ahhhh!!! That would drive me crazy! I hope they get it fixed soon!!!
