Julep September 2015 Subscription Box Review - "Kisses, London" Collection + Free Box Coupon Code
Julep September 2015 Subscription Box – “Kisses, London” Collection

Julep is a monthly nail polish (and beauty) subscription service.  They offer a “My Maven” box for $24.99/month which contains $40+ worth of product and polish or “Maven Luxe” for $39.99/month which contains $60+ of prestige products.  Both boxes are fully customizable and you have the option to switch between tiers.  Subscribers prior to 4/29/14 were grandfathered in at the $19.99/month rate, however, they will need to upgrade to the $24.99 subscription if they want to customize their boxes.  I finally decided to upgrade to the $24.99 subscription a few months ago so I am now able to customize my box.

The Box

Julep ships via FedEx Smart Post out of Ohio and tends to take just a few days to arrive to me. You can expect to receive your box in the first few days of the month.

Second First Look (w/ Add-Ons)

I customized my box this month and also opted for some add-ons. I always have trouble figuring out which items are from my box, which are add-ons and what my free gift (you get a bonus item when you opt for 3 or more add-ons).  Luckily I can always dig up my confirmation e-mail to get it all sorted out.  Here is what I opted for in my September 2015 “Kisses, London” Julep Maven box:

~Cassandra (Bombshell) ($11.20 / $14): Cassandra is a deep cabernet crème and pretty much screams Fall to me. You *might* be able to get away with one coat of this one, but I think it needs two coats.  I think pretty much everything needs two coats though. I just did my nails last night, but this one is going on next.

Cassandra (Bombshell)

~Esmerelda (Bombshell) ($11.20 / $14):  Esmeralda (which is back from the vault) is a jeweled emerald multi-dimensional glitter.  I missed it the first time around so I was sure to snag it this time.  I know some people will wear this alone, but I need to layer it on top of something else.  It’s just not enough coverage alone.  Well, it could be, but you’d have to do like a 6 coats to make it enough for me.

Esmerelda (Bombshell)

~Delores (Wonder Maven) ($11.20 / $14): Delores is an iris linear liquid holographic. I am a complete sucker for Julep’s special polishes (like this holographic one) and sometimes I end up not loving them, but this one is spot on.  The formula on this one is incredible.  It went on perfectly smooth and wasn’t too thick or too thin.  It was perfect. I only tested this on one of my toes, but dare I say it could be a one coverage polish?  Even for me, I think it could be. Amazing.

Delores (Wonder Maven)

~Julep “Signature Creme”: I don’t know what the reason behind it was, but Julep offered all Mavens a free “signature creme” polish in their box this month.  To get it all you had to do was claim it through a link in your e-mail. I really like the color, but the formula is meh.  It’s pretty thin, so it’s for sure going to take a few coats.  If it was a little thicker it would be more of an actual creme.

~Add-Ons: This month for my add-ons I opted for the Travel Bare Face + Konjac SpongeOrbital Eyeshadow – Borealis and Light On Your Lips – Girl Code.  My gift, for purchasing 3+ add-ons was polish “London”.  You’d think London was from the “Kisses, London” collection, but it’s not.  I believe I paid $28 for the 3 add-ons which I think is a great deal. I can’t resist the free gift and low prices of these.  I have a friend who had been wanting to try their lipstick, so I grabbed that one for me.

Add-Ons (plus Free Gift – Polish)

All totaled, using social “Maven” pricing, my September 2015 Julep Maven box had a value of $44.80 (including the free “Julep” polish).  Had I used retail prices, the value would have increased to $56.  You always know what you are going to get with Julep, so the values are never a surprise.  I like that they allow you to skip months and love those inexpensive add-ons even more!
