ipsy October 2015 Subscription Review - "Alter Ego"
ipsy October 2015 Subscription – “Alter Ego”

ipsy is $10/month and sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-6 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products selected for you based on your ipsy profile. Their bags always have an incredible value (well over the $10 cost) and I am always amazed at how they do it. I don’t always love everything in the bags, but I always always think it was worth my $10.  They also offer a rewards system for subscribers.  You can earn points by reviewing the items you get in your bags, sharing your ipsy bag on social media, etc. You can them redeem your points for products (often items which were featured in previous months) on the ipsy website.

The Package

ipsy ships around the 10th of the month via DHL Global Mail. I generally expect to receive my package a week after they ship.

First Look

ipsy always includes a cosmetics bag with their monthly shipments.  If all the items fit, they are packaged inside the bag, otherwise they will be loose in the outer packaging.

The Theme Card

The October 2015 ipsy theme was “Alter Ego” and my bag included the following items:

~The Bag: This month’s bag was gold on one side and black on the other.  It has an alter ego!  It’s fairly large and roomy and I love the colors.

The Bag

~Royal & Langnickel Moda™ Standard Eyeshadow Shader Brush ($3.99): This brush is 100% vegan and does it’s job. Also, it’s pink, so I instantly loved it.

~tarte deluxe LipSurgence™ skintuitive lip gloss in energy (0.05oz) ($3.51): This is the modern version of mood lipstick I used to like in middle school. It goes on clear and then uses pH-adjusting skintuitive™ technology to get your own custom, complexion-enhancing shade of pink. It’s glossy and turned a pale pink color when I put it on today.

~Balanced Guru Scrub Me Body Scrub ($2.87): This scrub contains Raw Sugar, Organic Coffee, Coconut Oil, Babassu Oil and Cocoa Butter (plus a little of Spearmint and Ginger). But to be real, it just smells like coffee to me. And since I love coffee scrubs, I love this. I feel like I have tried this in the past actually? It’s really dry though, so if you like the more “gooey” scrubs, this isn’t for you.

~Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Face Serum (0.5oz) ($16.79): This has the texture of an oil as opposed to a serum. In fact, the full-size of this product comes in a spray bottle. Anyway, it rubs in nicely and is a good before bedtime product,

~theBalm Cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer (0.02oz) ($1.60): I don’t know if I love the packaging on this or the product itself more. It’s a very subtle shimmer and works on your cheeks, eyes, basically anywhere.

All totaled I came up with a value of $28.76 for my October 2015 ipsy bag. I really liked this bag (I have been LOVING ipsy these past few months) and was actually surprised the value wasn’t higher. Either way though, it was a great bag for me.
