Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes to get some complete steals (which I try to do). I have been subscribing to Birchbox for over 3 years now and would say they are one of the best known subscription boxes out there.
Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.
Since I have two accounts I generally opt for that month’s curated box on one account and opt for the standard Birchbox on the other account. This review is on the November 2015 regular/standard Box. You can check out the curated “GlamLifeGuru” box review here.
I was impressed with the sizes in the box from the start!
My November 2015 Birchbox included the following items:
~Temple Spa La La Lagoon Aromatic Bath & Shower Gel (25mL / .84fl.oz) ($3.02): This smells decent and totally reminded me of a shower gel you’d find at a hotel. It did the job, but I wouldn’t buy it again.
~MAKE Face Gloss (0.1fl.oz / 3mL) ($6.25): This is quite interesting. It’s like a lip gloss for your face. No seriously, the consistency is exactly that of a clear lipgloss. It’s sticky and I found that a little goes a LONG way, but it did leave my skin looking “dewy” and awake.
~Living proof.® Perfect hair Day™(PhD) dry shampoo (92mL / 1.8fl.oz) ($10.22): This sample was sent in the GlamLifeGuru Birchbox as well, so it’s my second bottle this month. No matter though because I love dry shampoo! I try to wash my hair every other day or longer if I can get away with it and use dry shampoo in between. It’s been helping my color stay in longer. This stuff smells good and doesn’t leave a white residue. Oh and it takes away the oil. Good stuff.
~Liz Earle Superskin™ Moisturizer with Natural Neroli (15mL / 0.5fl.oz.) ($22.50): Liz Earle! I am super impressed with the size of this sample and will really be able to get a good idea if this works for me long-term. So far I like it. It absorbed into my skin quickly and didn’t leave it feeling greasy or dry again in like two seconds.
~LOC One & Done Shadow Stick (Impress Me – Rose Gold) ($8.33): Love this! I got this in “Day Trip” in the GlamLifeGuru box and was super impressed by it. “Impress Me” is just as gorgeous. It’s so easy to apply and easily can be blended with your finger. Both shades I tried were true metallics and lasted all day!
All totaled I came up with a value of $50.32 for my November 2015 Birchbox. Including the points I get for purchasing the box (10 points = $1 to spend at Birchbox) and reviewing / sharing the items in the box (60 points = $6), the value increases to $57.32. Is it just me or are the Birchbox box values increasing? The last few months have been absolutely fantastic for me!
