Hamptons Lane
Cost: $47/month
Ships To: United States.

Hamptons Lane curates an amazing monthly box of artisan foods, kitchen tools, and serveware for the food lover. Boxes are $47/month and are revealed at the beginning of every month. Boxes are created around a monthly theme, such as Southwestern Fiesta, Summer Cocktail, The Best of BBQ, Coastal Italy, etc. Unlike most subscription boxes, you can skip the box if it doesn’t interest you during the first five days of that month.
Hamptons Lane generally ships in the second half of the month.
As I mentioned, the contents of Hamptons Lane are always revealed at the beginning of the month, so opening it is never much of a surprise.
The November 2015 Hamptons Lane theme was “Tarts & Pies”. The information booklet includes product information along with recipes and a little background on the theme. Here is what the box included:
~Whipped Cinnamon Honey from Cloister Honey ($8): I am not sure if I knew whipped honey was “thing” before subscription boxes, but I love it. The booklet includes a recipe for a “Salty Whipped Cinnamon Honey Pie”, but I think I may just use it on biscuits which is another one of the suggestions.
~Pumpkin Pie Pice and Chicken Pie Spice from RawSpiceBar: B will FOR SURE use the pumpkin pie spice to make a pie (maybe this weekend) and my mom makes the best pot pie (she doesn’t cook much, but her pot pie is my favorite thing ever) so I am going to have her add this to her next one and see what happens!
~Set of Four Decorative Leaf Pressed from Hamptons Lane: These are going to make for some gorgeous toppers on our pumpkin pie. I am also wondering if maybe B will attempt some sort of leaf top on his famous apple pie (he actually won an award for it at a county fair when he was younger)? These will be a great way to help get the kids involved too. They can easily punch out leaves with these.
~Ceramic Pie Weights from Fox Run ($5.99): I actually had to google what these were used for. The information book said they are helpful when you “blind-bake” an unfilled crust. I guess it just means when you pre-bake the crust and then add the filling and continue baking. I guess it’s good for pies like pumpkin and pecan because it helps the pies not to get soggy. You learn something new everyday!
~Double Sided Pastry Cutter from Fox Run ($5.95): This helps you make beautiful lattice on your pies. I think B usually just uses a knife, but it sounds like this will be very helpful.
~Sweet Orange Sugar by Terre Botanicals: The information booklet suggests using this for a Sweet Orange Ricotta Tart (the recipe can be found here), so we may try that. Because if we don’t I am not exactly sure what we’d use it for? The information booklet also notes that you can bake it right into pies or use it to sweeten your hot tea. I wonder if you could also sprinkle it on sugar cookies? That would probably be quite tasty.
~Rectangle Tart Pan from Fat Daddio’s: One thing I love about Hamptons Lane is that they send useful items, but also items that you may not necessarily have already. We have NOTHING like this and will for sure use it this holiday season.
I was unable to do a cost breakdown on the November Hamptons Lane box because it included a few Hamptons Lane exclusives. However, since they show the contents of this box in advance, you’ll probably only get it if you love it and think it’s worth it because you can skip otherwise. I now cannot wait to make our first pie of the season!

There is still time to opt in for this box so you won’t even have to wait until next month for your first delivery!
I’d mix the sweet orange sugar with some softened butter & use it on banana bread!
Need B’s pie recipe and tutorial!
