~Good morning! B’s in town all week and he has Wednesday off for Veterans Day, so it should be a nice week. Other than a PTO meeting (this will be B’s first) and a dentist appointment (yay!) I don’t know what else we’ve got going on this week? Not too much I guess.

~We are thinking about getting hardwood floors in the living room and I am curious if any of you have ever done your own Click-Lock floors? We’ve been wanting to do something in the living room to replace our gross carpet for years, but are finally getting serious about it. B wanted tile that looked like hardwood and I wanted “real” hardwood, but after pricing it out we realized those options were going to cost a fortune. So anyway we talked to someone at Home Depot (maybe the most helpful Home Depot employee on the planet actually) and we now feel like we could do this ourselves. Is this crazy? Any advice?

LOL!
LOL!

~Subscription box wise this week I am expecting FabKids, POPSUGAR (I hope we get some spoilers on it in the next few days though), Birchbox, the Birchbox Luxe List Limited Edition Box, Macy’s The Spotlight, Yogi Surprise, Your Bijoux Box and a handful of others.

~In case you missed it yesterday, I posted the details about the Secret Santa sign-up. If you are interested in participating you can head over here and get signed up. The deadline to sign up is the 16th of November and you’ll your person’s details shortly after. I am asking that all gifts get shipped by December 7th so everyone gets theirs by the holiday. If there is a delay I just ask that you let your person know so they aren’t wondering if you flaked. One thing – please note in your profile someplace if you are willing to ship internationally. I think a few Canadian girls have signed up so far. I am excited about this!

~90 Day Fiance.  This show!  I feel so badly for Josh.  He’s so sweet and so wants to make Alexsandra happy.  Also, Melanie’s sisters are tough.  They scare me and I am just watching them on tv!  How flipping odd to ask someone about one night stands at dinner?  But also he wants to send 90% of his money back to Jamaica?  That seems, uhh, a tad high doesn’t it?

~Did you see that a new MTV The Challenge is coming?  It’s called “Battle of the Bloodlines” and will feature the regulars (Johnny Bananas, Cara Marie, etc.) being paired up with one of their relatives to complete for the prizes.  It starts December 2nd which is just around the corner!

That’s all from here!  What do you have going on today /  this week? What subscription boxes are you expecting?

Know several people who’ve done the floors..easy least..and love em!

  2. Ragan

Let us know if you decide to do the floors, how it goes. One of my cats has ruined the carpet in our bedroom (within a month of moving in…) and we need something to replace it but don’t want to spend a fortune.

My dad did the floors in the spare room himself. It wasn’t super hard and he feels like a badass every time he can tell people he did it himself.
    I say go for it!

I haven’t ever done DIY with flooring, but I’ve lived in a lot of apartments with real hardwood and laminate, and I gotta say there is a lot of quality faux wood flooring material now, it’s hard to tell the difference at a glance, and a lot of it is very sturdy.

I am putting in hardwood floors in two weeks, with the help of my handyman Dad! I think it looks straight forward. I will try to update once we do it. I think the prep of the carpet removal is going to be the worst part…and the moving of furniture.

We put in laminate floors on our whole first floor. It took about a weekend, but I love them!

Thought about you yesterday when we scored some sweet Halloween costumes-Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper – for 90% off @Target. $5.50 each? Yes, please!

We have laminate floors in our house, only the stairs have carpet and bathrooms have vinyl. We love them, easy to clean, very durable, just never get them wet. They’re harder than real hardwood, like if you drop a can on them, it will dent up the can. But on the flip side if you drop anything remotely breakable on them, it will break. My ex boyfriend put laminate floors in his bathroom himself. I think he just got it at Home Depot.

Last year we put laminate hardwood “click” flooring in our kitchen/dining room and I love it!! So easy to clean, yes I agree with do not get wet…which means no more mopping or buckets of water! Just swiffer and lightly spray with a laminate floor cleaner. I will say though they do ding easily. I drop a casserole dish on the floor and it put a knick in the flooring. We had them installed.

The click together wood flooring is mostly easy to do yourself. I helped my dad do his living room. If yr husband is good with home repair type stuff, u guys can totalky do it on yr own. The longest part for us was laying the floor lining first and then also cutting all the pieces needed to fit odd spaces, getting the measurements perfect was a little difficult. Most of the floor was super easy though

We did our own click/lock floors this summer. The hardest part was prepping the subfloor (concrete). My husband meticulously smoothed and leveled it, taking out dips and high spots. Carpet is very forgiving of imperfections in subfloors. Wood is not, so it’s important to make sure it’s level with very few, very small imperfections. The flooring itself was suuuuuper easy and took only hours to install.

Yesss another Challenge! I wonder how old some of these guys are now, like Johnny Bananas? He’s been on for as long as I can remember!

Do you have a lumbar liquidators near you? They are some great prefab hardwood options that may be less expensive.

    1. Jennifer

Hmm, I don’t know? I found a nice engineered hardwood (is that the same as prefab?) at Home Depot that I really like!

  13. Cindy

George installed engineered hardwood by himself in our living and dining room years ago — which means Bryan can!!!

I just saw spoiler pic for Novemeber Popsugar box on Instagram. Interesting mix of products, which is why it’s still my fav box. Looking forward to reading your breakdown of the items!

Ok, I signed up for the secret Santa but I’m a little shocked on people’s wish list….I was thinking it was wrapping personalized gifts of girlie items in a cute box and I’m seeing all these wish list items and gift cards from Amazon. Fairly large items. Do you buy these from Amazon and have it shipped to their house? I’m just a little confused on expectations I guess..

    1. Jennifer

I don’t know that I have seen anything overly crazy, but people do fill out their wish lists so their Secret Santa can get an idea of the types of things they are. You are free to use the ideas or get them something else you think they’d love! I personally never ship anything directly from Amazon or a store unless I am in a time crunch. I like to wrap it all cute!

  16. D

Ok thanks! I guess I was thinking like shower gels, candles, bath oils, candies, small gift cards..etc. not bowls, hanging gardens, cd’s, like breakable items. Just not sure how to box that kind of stuff. lol!
