My long awaited POPSUGAR Must Have Holiday for Her Box arrived over the weekend.
If you aren’t familiar with them, POPSUGAR Must Have Box is an exciting box full of fun, must-have picks across fashion, beauty, home decor, fitness, and more, which is delivered to your door on a monthly basis. Boxes include full-size products and premium items including tried-and-true classics, celebrity favorites, and brands consumers have yet to discover worth over $100!
They also offer special edition boxes on a seasonal basis including Special Edition Holiday boxes for Him and Her. This review is on the 2015 Holiday for Her Special Edition Must Have Box which was described as a “chic and stylish treat”.
The POPSUGAR Holiday for Her Special Edition Must Have Box shipped via FedEx Smart Post out of California and took about a week to arrive.
All items in the Holiday for Her box arrived individually wrapped in tissue paper. As usual I had peeked at the spoilers so I knew what all was coming in the box. But having everything wrapped still makes it special to open.
The POPSUGAR Holiday for Her Special Edition Must Have Box included the following items:
~Elizabeth Cole Adelia Cuff ($167.50): This bracelet is tiny! Not as tiny as the Miansai Screw Cuff that was in the Spring Rachel Zoe box, but it’s small. It is slightly adjustable though, so don’t be afraid to try and open it up a bit. I do think it’s gorgeous and will be a great item for social occasions – if it fits your wrist.
~Et Al Designs Dot Candles ($24): I believe I had these candles a grand total of 5 minutes before I broke one. Oops! I was trying to fit them in the candle holders that were included in this box (we’ll get to those below) and realized I broke one. Well, I think I’m the one that broke them. I noticed some other people mention that theirs arrived broken? All I know is that after I tried to make it fit it in the candlestick holder, it was broke. I don’t burn taper candles too often (i.e. ever) because I kind of feel like they are a one and done thing (does anyone else think that?). I guess I’ll save these for one year when I do a silver and white mantel.
~Nima Oberoi Lunares Orb Candlestick Holders ($69): I totally expected that the taper candles we received above to fit in these candlestick holders. I mean if a box has taper candles, you’d thing they would fit in the included candlestick holders? Well, they don’t. At least not easily anyway! It takes some work. Or a knife to shave down the ends of the candles. I do love the style of these candlestick holders and while (as I mentioned previously) I don’t use tapers a ton, I actually could see myself using these somewhere in the house. I was surprised that the holders seemed to be a bit scuffed up right out of the box. They were packed very well but as you can see in the picture they look slightly roughed up. Not a huge deal, but I thought I should mention it.
~Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion (Plain) ($39): This is a totally new (to me) brand! This is available as a tinted lotion, but we received the “plain” shade which is described as a “color-free shade perfect for naturally tanned skin or darker tones”. My skin is pretty pale, but the lotion worked perfectly for me. It gives you a little shimmer that creates a flattering glow and helps to remove the appearance of stretch marks, veins and bruising. I also really like this packaging. It’s different and unexpected and this type of container lets you get every single drop because you can cut it open and scrape the sides if you want to ;).
~Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge Eau de Parfum ($14.99): This confuses me a little. The scent is nice – maybe a little too deep / rich for me, but nice, but the vial aspect throws me. If it was a sprayer or even a mini bottle (without a sprayer) I’d be okay with that. But a big vial? That’s just difficult to use. And hard to store. I would never carry this in my purse because I would be afraid the top would fall off and it would spill all over. I would have been thrilled had this been swapped out for a fancy snack or something.
~White + Warren Luxe Knotted Headband ($88): I love this! It’s 100% cashmere and is extremely soft and cozy. It’s not something I would buy for myself so it feels like such a luxury to get it in the box. I will get a ton of use out of it this winter too – just as soon as it actually gets cold here in Michigan!
~Butter LONDON Lip Service – Lippy Liquid Lipstick Collection ($29): This set includes Toff (Dark Rose Pink, Creme), Tea with the Queen (Pinkish Tan, Creme), Pudding (Rosy Pink, Creme) and Fruit Cake (Berry, Creme). The colors are shiny and high-pigmented and also pretty “tacky”. They smell great though and I am a fan of this little set.
All totaled the 2015 POPSUGAR Holiday for Her box had a value of $431.49. That is an insane value for a $100 box, but it just wasn’t my favorite limited edition box from them. I felt like I got my $100 worth but I wish they would have included a different “hero” item other than the bracelet which may or may not fit everyone’s wrists.
What did you think of the 2016 POPSUGAR Holiday for Her box? If you are interested in picking one up, it’s still available as are the Neiman Marcus Must Have Box and the TODAY Show POPSUGAR box! The December 2015 POPSUGAR box is also still available. Make sure to check out POPSUGAR’s Friends & Family sale if you are interested in a monthly subscription.
My box arrived today along with my FFF box. I have to say that between the two, I love the FFF way more and it was $50 less.
My wrists are on the small side and that cuff barely fit. I wore it for a few hours this afternoon and it left red marks on my wrist and just wasn’t very comfortable. The design is OK, but the stones are a bit dull and not very sparkly.
The Butter London set looks nice and at least two of the shades will work with my skin tone. I’m really bummed about the candles, I had no idea they didn’t fit in the holders (I was going to gift the holders and the set to my sister in law, but now I have to figure out where I can buy candles to fit). Re: the candles being scratched, I’ve read that other people had a similar issue. I’ll check mine out before I gift them.
Oh and that silly perfume vial. . ugh! I actually spilled a bunch of it on my lap when I was trying to pull the stopper out. It’s not my scent at all and I’m really irked that we got a small vial in a luxury edition box. It seemed so out of place.
I will say the headband is sooooo soft and I’m happy to have it and I’m sure I’ll like the lotion. Altogether this was a disappointing box for many reasons (tiny cuff that digs into my skin, random perfume vial, plus cheap candle sticks that break easily and don’t fit into the holders). It also annoys me that many items were “exclusive” to this box. . . I know it’s weird, but I trust the retail value more when I can look at an item online and see that it’s actually being sold at the price listed. Thanks for your great review!
Hmm… I bought my box just a little too early. Should have waited. I’m not excited for this… except for MAYBE the headband, but I rarely wear my hair down – so really? There’s nothing in the box that I actually want. Well there goes $100 not well spent. Thanks for the review. I absolutely LOVE your site – gives me the best insight into what boxes are worth spending my money on.
I love the bracelet but I’m thinking it’s not going to fit. I have a fairly average size wrist (I think?! I never really noticed before, but I can wear most bracelets “off the rack”. I just measured and my wrist is 6 1/2 inches around. Do you know your wrist size Jennifer, and if so can you tell us if it fit? I am so hoping it does fit me because I really love the bracelet and don’t want to gift it, to be honest. But if it’s too small I’ll give it to my son’s girlfriend who is a tiny petite woman with very small bone structure.
I also can’t wait to get my hands on the headband. It’s one of those things you don’t know if you’ll like until you get it. Son #2’s girlfriend might be getting that for Christmas lol.
I honestly am not really happy about this box. I never do have good luck with PS LE boxes. Monthly I love, but $100 is a pretty big investment – you’d think they would make sure stuff like broken candles and scuffed up candlestick holders and teeny tiny bracelets too small to fit most would not happen. I understand and accept its the chance you take when you buy a subscription box that you may end up liking nothing in the box – but I don’t accept broken goods. That irritates me, I hope Pop Sugar makes good on these problems. They eventually made good on my Neiman Marcus 2014 LE box that came with a broken candle but it was like pulling teeth.
I think my wrist is slightly larger than that and it fits, but its’ kind of tight? It’s not like “bangly” if you know what I mean. Then again it’s not supposed to be a bangle, it’s supposed to be a cuff. I just thought it fit me oddly. Let me know what you think when you get it! And for sure check your candles. I really think I broke mine myself, but SO many people have been saying theirs arrived broken, so who knows???
Ugh, mine is a little too tight. I know it’s not supposed to be dangly, but it fits odd, like you said. And it feels like its digging into my skin. So disappointed because I really love the bracelet. Oh well, my son’s girlfriend will be happy!
I was pleasantly surprised with the rest of the stuff – I can make the headband work (really cute! and so soft!) and fortunately my candles made it in one piece. My candlestick holders were a little beat up too, I just took a tech cleaning cloth and polished them up, they look better. My table is blue and silver this holiday season so they look great…I too had some problems getting the candlestick in the holders, but did manage to do it without them breaking (I was thinking of what happened to you, otherwise I probably would have pushed too hard and broke mine too!)
All in all, not their best, but not their worst. I’m meh, but it could be worse, I could be livid. lol. Meanwhile I got the December box and love every single thing in it…now that bracelet, while not my favorite style, fits all or most wrist sizes! Lesson learned though, stick to the monthly unless the hero item is something I can’t resist.
I got my box yesterday along with my December box and I liked the December box better!! My candle holders also came scuffed up but my candles do fit in the holders easily (and were not broken). The cuff is also a little tighter on my wrist than I usually like. I was surprised that we received a vial of perfume as oppose to a roller ball or sprayer. It just seemed weird to include in a luxury box. I love the headband and the lipstick is good as well. Overall not too impressed!
My December box hasn’t arrived yet! I think it’s coming Thursday? I wonder what happened to my candle holders? I tried to get one in the holder and ended up with wax chunks everywhere. LOL!!!
This box retail value maybe there but the true value of the box doesn’t seem to be there. Especially when compared to the men’s box. The men’s box is at least 10x better. I don’t know it seems like between this box and December box popsugar basically gave women a slap in the face. And how many are still waiting for their November box? Personally the retail value is not as important as useful the stuff is and how much joy it brings. Why did they do such great job with the men’s box and maybe at best a soso job on the women’s box? At least they did something to make up for it somewhat by having that subscription sale.
